Chapter 37 - The Hero

"GET IN LINE, MAGGOTS!" I heard an overwhelming bellow and turned to the far end of the stadium we were now in to spot a bulky man who was most definitely a teacher.

"Hey, Selena!" I shouted but she ignored me and walked away, she has been doing this since the moment I got to this stadium.

After I was released from the vice principal's office, who actually reassigned me to another room and made provision for uniforms. I headed to class, but due to everything and how much time I had already wasted, I missed some classes and just straight up went to the stadium for combat class.

But getting here, I found Selena seated alone at one corner, I walked over to talk…

… but she literally ignored me and walked away.

Like…

… what?!

It seems she's mad, could it be because I didn't meet up with her?

But I did try to explain, she just wouldn't give me the chance to…

…wait…

…why do I feel like the tables are turning?

All of a sudden, I am the one trying to get her to talk to me.

Sighs.

'Don't worry you fairy bitch… I will make sure you pay for all the stress you caused me'

I thought in annoyance.

Somehow the Fairy bitch had found me, but not only that, she literally wrecked my room while trying to kill me in my sleep.

'I hate you…. I hope you die a painful death'

I heard her voice in my head, but waved it off.

She's going to get it from me.

Really hard at that.

It turns out she was actually bound to the trinket of destiny.

Like she was literally a slave to it.

But, that got me thinking, why didn't something like this happen in the novel?

Was it because it was said she had drained her essence trying to protect it and died?

I don't really have an idea.

However, after realizing what she did and trying to kill her in rage…

… I realized she was actually obedient.

Strangely so.

Like I asked her what happened and she just straight up said it.

I asked her why, she replied also.

I asked her why the room was wrecked and I wasn't and she also gave an answer.

Apparently she couldn't harm me since I was now invariably her master.

Anyway, she was now invisible flying around me, with the disgusted expression on her face that actually calmed my anger a bit.

But as I promised her, she was going to get it hard.

"I AM MODRICK ELSINAR! I WILL BE YOUR COMBAT CLASS INSTRUCTOR TILL THE GRADING EXAMS BEGIN! NOW I WILL MAKE IT CLEAR! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CONTROL MYSELF! THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I MISTAKENLY BEAT STUDENTS HALF-DEAD IN THE NAME OF DISCIPLINE. RULE NUMBER 1, DON'T GIVE ME A REASON TO DISCIPLINE YOU…." He droned on but at this point I was thinking about something else.

'What's your name…?'

I asked, tilting my head ever so lightly to find her glaring at me.

'Nelia,' she said through grunted teeth and I then nodded.

'So Nelia, why was the Fairy race extinct?' I asked and she stiffened visibly; even her expression which was one of anger, gave a hint of sadness.

'Please… can we not talk about that.. Now?' she asked, this time actually pleading, it seems she really doesn't want to remember what happened.

'Then how about the trinket… why were you made a slave to it?' I asked, as now her desperation to protect it began to make sense.

No wonder she had protected it all these years, she was afraid of becoming a slave to someone.

'I didn't have a choice… And it was to fulfill the prophecy,'

'What prophecy?'

'I don't know the whole prophecy, there was only so much we the Fairies got to find out. But it was said that at the point when the world is at its end, a hero will be born, but likewise a hero of darkness,'

'That's all?'

'That's as much as I know of the prophecy… the Fairy queen never revealed more,'

Hm.

The novel itself never said anything about a prophecy.

But I guess Lucas is probably the hero.
