Chapter 3 - Power Structure

Jensen pulled out of Maria and slowly rose from the ground.

His movements were calm, almost lazy, as if nothing important had just happened but to be honest he enjoyed it.

A quick check of the time showed that he had only dozed off for less than half an hour.

He looked toward his father and confirmed that Jack had finally breathed his last.

He couldn't confirm if he died from bleeding out after stabbing himself or heart attack from watching his wife getting fucked by his son.

The room was quiet now with Maria fast asleep and Jack dead.

Jensen stared at the body for a few seconds.

There was no anger in his eyes or sadness or even relief, but the freedom, the freedom was what made it worth it.

It was done.

He would have to call the police to report the death. Of course, he already knew he was going to get away with it.

Jack was a known heavy drinker and drug user. The house smelled like it not to mention the table that was full of bottles.

There were also signs that Jack had stabbed himself with the knife still beside him.

And police rarely took cases like this seriously.

They would look at the scene, shake their heads, and choose the option that allowed them to close the case as fast as possible.

Another addict gone was absolutely nothing special.

Ignoring the corpse, Jensen sat down and closed his eyes.

He began to meditate.

Cultivation was common knowledge in this world. At least the first three levels, known as Gamma Rank.

Gamma Rank allowed basic control over one's awakened path, it was nothing too powerful, just enough to understand the path.

Paths were the foundation of cultivation, and all paths are divided into three groups.

The Major Paths, the Support Paths and the Creation Path.

The Major Paths included the Body Path, Mind Path, and Elemental Path.

These were the most common awakenings, with most cultivators having one of these.

The Support Paths included the Weapon Path and Bloodline Path.

These were usually awakened as a second path and can usually be forcefully awakened by the use of treasure or blood essence.

That did not make them weak, they were simply classified based on how they were obtained and used.

Then there was the Creation Path.

It stood alone and there was a good reason for that.

The Creation Path dealt with the manipulation of fundamental laws.

Even its most common branch, Space, was extremely troublesome to fight against not to mention the others.

Take a Time Branch user and a Fire Branch user at the same level with equal understanding of their Path's Branch.

The Time user would almost always win.

What could a fireball do to someone who could slow down time within their range?

As far as Jensen knew, there were only two realms. The Mortal Realm and the Immortal Realm.

He knew almost nothing about the Immortal Realm except one thing.

Humanity had nine of said Immortals.

The Immortal Saintess, The Immortal Dragon King, Immortal Queen of Motion, Immortal Mind Sovereign, Immortal War King, Immortal Star Empress, Immortal Titan Lord, Immortal Shadow King and Immortal Life Weaver.

The Mortal Realm was divided into three ranks. Gamma, Beta, and Alpha.

Gamma covered Levels 1 to 3.

Beta covered Levels 4 to 6.

Alpha covered Levels 7 to 9.

Each level was divided into early, middle, high, and peak.

To break through, one had to reach peak first, there were no shortcuts.

Jensen had awakened three paths.

Body Path.

Mind Path.

Creation Path.

The Body Path strengthened the physical body. It gave stable growth and high survivability, but it came with pain.

He had awakened the Balanced Branch, the most basic branch possible but it was one of the best options.

The Mind Path enhanced cognition and psychic abilities. It gave high perception but a fragile body.

This was where his true talent lay.

He had awakened two branches under it. The Psychic Branch and the Telekinesis Branch.

His Psychic Branch was what he had just used to kill his father while the Telekinesis Branch was the one his father had.

Finally, the Creation Path.

He had awakened the Space Branch that allowed him to teleport and other stuff.

Three paths and four branches.

It showed how talented he was, but talent was not always a blessing.

Each branch increased his mana capacity exponentially. He had more than four times the average amount for someone his level.

It made him versatile and hard to kill, if he was careful.

But it also meant that to break through to the next level, he had to advance all four branches to the peak before breaking through.

That would take much longer.

For the early levels, it might not matter.

But once he reached Level 6 and aimed for Beta Rank peak, the difficulty would grow sharply.

Others with similar talent but only one path would need far less time to cultivate allowing them to advance faster.

He opened his eyes slowly.

He understood the problem clearly.

If he wanted to stay ahead, he needed an advantage, more power was useless if he died before reaching it.

First, he needed to improve his survivability by increasing his battle strength.
