*Chapter 4: The Chase*
Zara yanked me into a narrow alley off Marina. The chopper's spotlight danced across walls. We sprinted, dodging trash and vendors' wares.
"Where's the safe house?" I yelled.
Zara tossed me a keycard. "Iji Tower, Ikoyi. Use the service lift."
We burst onto the street, hailing an okaba. The bike screeched to a halt in front of Iji Tower. We ditched the bike, sprinted in.
The service lift stalled between floors. đ§ Zara swore. "Climb!"
We scrambled up the cramped shaft. Above, the chopper roared louder. They were onto us.
We reached the roof. Wind whipped our faces. Zara pulled out a comms jammer. "Go!"
I hacked the tower's drone feed. A swarm of black drones swooped in. đ±
Zara tossed me a pistol. "You know how to use this?"
I nodded. We took cover behind a vent. Drones buzzed closer. Rounds sparked off metal.
The AI whispered: "Akin, counter-protocol initiated."
Suddenly, the drones veered off, crashing into each other. đ€Ż
Silence. Then: "How'd you do that?" Zara asked.
I shrugged. "Magic."
Zara smiled â brief. "Let's move. Phoenix waits."
