Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Ren Kuro froze for a moment.

The instant he saw the girl, a strange sense of familiarity rose in his heart.

Especially those panda-like dark circles under her eyes—for some reason, they looked incredibly friendly.

Ren Kuro knew immediately who she must be.

The final member of the Dawn Society.

The assassin girl—Shinomiya Fuyui.

Yuki Amehara had mentioned before that he and Shinomiya Fuyui were a famous duo in the Logistics Department's Battle Network scene.

The two of them spent all day immersed in the Battle Network, skipping even their theoretical classes.

The difference was—

Ren Kuro possessed a hidden trait: a secret academic genius.

Meanwhile, Shinomiya Fuyui had failed every subject.

Seeing Shinomiya Fuyui so suddenly made Ren Kuro a little nervous.

Because—

he currently had no memories at all.

If she realized he was an impostor, things would be over.

Stay calm.

I must stay calm.

Ren Kuro took a deep breath, forcefully suppressing the anxiety in his heart.

He needed to take the initiative.

The girl looked at Ren Kuro and showed a faint hint of surprise.

"You came."

Ren Kuro replied,

"Yes. I came."

The girl continued calmly.

"But you're late."

Ren Kuro answered,

"No. The timing is perfect."

The girl yawned lazily.

"Oh."

"In that case, you go ahead. I'm going to sleep first. I'll come back tonight."

After saying that—

she walked straight past Ren Kuro and left.

Ren Kuro stood there in complete confusion.

What just happened?

That's it?

Did she notice anything suspicious or not?

Couldn't she at least give a hint?

Speaking of Shinomiya Fuyui, her situation was even worse than Ren Kuro's.

She had always dreamed of becoming the Empire's strongest assassin.

Unfortunately—

the academy didn't even have an Assassin Department.

Starshine City was only a border city, barely considered third-tier.

Almost no one chose the assassin profession—a career hidden in the shadows.

The academy had no interest in wasting resources on it.

As a result—

Shinomiya Fuyui became the academy's only assassin, forced into the Logistics Department and labeled part of the academy's so-called "trash department."

It was truly tragic.

In reality, Shinomiya Fuyui's talent was actually quite impressive.

Ren Kuro shook his head and stepped into the Battle Network training arena.

The key to entering the Battle Network was spiritual energy.

Ren Kuro had already converted all of his spiritual energy into chakra.

Fortunately, the two energies shared similar properties.

So he entered the Battle Network without much difficulty.

The Battle Network functioned like a consciousness-based virtual space, capable of simulating real combat.

Even if someone lost, they wouldn't actually die.

Ren Kuro couldn't help but sigh.

This world was truly incredible.

Technology like this actually existed.

He opened his personal profile.

His Battle Network ID immediately appeared.

But as he continued reading…

he suddenly felt as if ten thousand mythical beasts were stampeding through his mind.

ID: Fearless WarriorRank: RookieRecord: 249 Losses — 0 Wins — 0 Draws

Such a glorious record.

Truly dazzling.

Only one step away from 250 losses.

As everyone knew, the Battle Network was only open to students of the Empire's Spiritual Energy Academies.

Over the past year, Ren Kuro had fought 249 matches.

Miraculously—

he hadn't won a single one.

Of course, it wasn't surprising.

His spiritual growth value was only 3, meaning he possessed almost no spiritual energy and had developed no combat techniques.

With that level of strength, entering the Battle Network was basically just feeding himself to other players.

Strangely enough—

no one had ever reported him for trolling.

That was quite surprising.

The moment Ren Kuro's Battle Network ID appeared, countless messages flooded in.

"Holy crap! Guys, look! Fearless Warrior is online—get ready!"

"Brother Fearless, you're finally here! Please match with me next round! I've lost four matches in a row today. My comeback depends entirely on you!"

"You trash above me—what right do you have to fight Brother Fearless? Move aside and let me go first!"

"A bunch of rookies! Don't you know basic manners? First come, first served! Line up! Line up!"

The Battle Network ranked players according to win rate and battle count, dividing them into four tiers:

Rookie, Beginner, Elite, and Master.

These roughly corresponded to the four levels of Psionic Warriors in the real world:

D-rank, C-rank, B-rank, and A-rank.

Above A-rank were the extremely rare S-rank and Super S-rank.

Within the Empire's Spiritual Energy Academies, any student capable of reaching A-rank was already considered an absolute genius.

After all—

in the entire Noah Empire, there were fewer than one hundred S-rank Psionic Warriors.

As for Super S-rank warriors, there were only three.

Those individuals were the pillars of the Empire.

They guarded its borders and fought in interdimensional battlefields against other worlds.
