Third-person POV
"Are you fucking serious?" Sora said to Michiyo.
"Yeah, so I could also prove to anyone that what happened to my parents back in my middle school years is real!" Michiyo strongly retorted.
"Wait, what???" Rathanak raised an eyebrow.
And so, Michiyo revealed to them what happened on that tragic day back when he was in middle school: one evening, he was playing with his parents. As his parents, loving and kind, gestured to him to do what he wanted to do for fun, this is where Michiyo did his gun gesture at them and said, "Bang!"
Before him, a kinetic air shot his parents on their bed, and they died to it.
Young Michiyo became frozen and in shock.
He teared up, and then, he called emergency services and the police and confessed everything to them.
However, at the police station, since there was no evidence to back his confession, Michiyo wasn't charged for murder, and he was unfairly let go.
Michiyo felt grief on this, and as he settled with his maternal grandparents within Ichigaya's neighborhood, he went through the rest of middle school, high school, and then a short course in a vocational school for electronics repair. When his grandparents passed away of old age, he left their home and settled in Yokohama as a member of the Black Feathers and as one of their TV maintenance crew members. However, he had been developing vengeance against the police that ignored his confession. He could've have landed in juvie for 10 years, and then he would be free and reintegrate back to society by now. Instead, he was ignored and released as if he did not do anything wrong. So, shortly after college, he started targeting people via their electronic screens and whispered "Bang" at them, and his Invisible Shots would shoot them through the screens. He intended this to show the police his ignored case from years ago. This is one of the reasons why Sora fired him for being reckless and a liability, and this prompted Michiyo to pivot to TV repairing so he could continue his crusade without being kept on tabs by Sora.
Silence filled the room, and Rathanak and Sora couldn't believe what Michiyo just uncovered about his past from the dirt of time. Michiyo sobbed and buried his face with his hands. The Red Rings of Obsession dimmed behind his hands.
"I just wanted everyone to acknowledge my crimes…" Michiyo choked while chugging his now lukewarm tea in one go, "...the authorities were so fucking ignorant…"
At this point, Rathanak felt bad for him, and he thought of his own childhood with his parents and younger twin sisters. His were a far cry from Michiyo's: happy, almost great, and relatively modest. But Michiyo never get to give these or it stopped on that fateful night years ago.
So, Rathanak opened his greed agenda journal and turned to a fresh, vintage-colored page.
He made his list, or Banhchi in Khmer.
He wrote the Khmer letters for it: បញ្ជី.
This specific list is for the sickos who were attracted to him:
Takara Kanei - his yandere classmate in Tokyo University
Sora and the Black Feathers - a gang that was bloodthirsty
Michiyo Takahashi - a serial killer whose crime had been ignored by the system. (P.S., he is better than Hiro Shishigami cuz he was a human and had a conscience, much softer, and deserved to be treated as a human.)
Offering himself to anyone on this list only happens when Rathanak had the time for it.
With that running list written in black ink with his ballpoint pen, Rathanak closed his journal and said to Michiyo, "Takahashi-san, I felt bad for you. I understand you. I am here if you want to vent out your anger at the institution that failed you years ago.
Michiyo's head snapped at him with the Red Rings of Obsession flared on his eyes again. "Really?" he whispered.
"Seriously, Rathanak-kun?" Sora chuckled at this while taking a bite of his chewy chocolate chip cookie. "You're inviting my former member in the basement?"
"I don't like when he keeps on targeting the innocent just to seek validation and justice on his own crime," Rathanak replied firmly with a resolve. "If he wants to be impulsive and shoots with his ability and laughs at his victims, then I and/or Lorenzo-kun would do that for him."
"Thank you…" Michiyo whispered to Rathanak.
He was about to point a gun gesture at him and said "bang", only for a second pair of wooden chopsticks to be hurled at him by Sora.
"Again, manners!" Sora barked at him. "Do that, and you'll clean up your own mess!"
Michiyo chuckled, pulled back, and poured his own second glass of tea.
At 5:30 p.m., the meeting ended with Sora and Michiyo reconciling with each other as plain and mutual friends and Michiyo returned home to his apartment home. Rathanak, meanwhile, remained in Sora's penthouse until a new set of cheap clothes was delivered by one of Sora's men so he could toss his bloody clothes into Sora's fireplace. Rathanak also paid for it and then burrowed Sora's bathroom to take a quick shower to wash away the blood and the metallic smell of it. Once in his new set of clothes, Rathanak said goodbye to Sora and his gang and left off to cook dinner for himself and his sisters in their home for the night.
Meanwhile, in his apartment home, Michiyo taped Rathanak's photo he had found on Rathanak's Google Drive that he also hacked into. He taped it on Rathanak's target profile in his spiral-bound notebook and circled a red circle around the photo with his red marker to indicate that Rathanak would be theoretically his only target.
Michiyo's Red Rings of Obsession on his eyes flared as he chuckled at this.
