In cloud smoke Forest, four figures in crimson robes moved swiftly between trees. They bore the insignia of the blazing wind pavilion-a tornado of fire.
"Surround it! "Shouted senior brother
Luo Han. Ahead of them was a blazing flame lizard.It had thick scales and was also proficient in fire attributed attacks making its offense and defense top tier among monster beasts of the same level the group of four surrounded it and began to attack it.After sometime Luo Han furrowed his brows.
"This blazing flame lizard looks like it has undergone some sort of mutation" he warned while using martial arts to attack the beast.
He was at the second stage of Qi condensation realm making him able to use yuan qi and martial arts.The strength of the three varied, with one of them being at the 9th stage of body tempering realm ,the other was at the seventh stage of body tempering realm while the last one,Feng Wei had the weakest cultivation in the group -he was at the fifth stage of body tempering realm.Feng Wei was born with a natural defect that made him unable to cultivate. It had been two years now since he joined Blazing wind pavilion but he had only managed to break through to the fifth stage of body tempering. In the sect his fellow disciples were used to calling him 'trash' due to his poor talent.His only advantage was his strong foundation making him able to exchange blows with someone at the sixth stage of body tempering realm.
The blazing flame lizard suddenly roared and charged at one of them.
"Don't let it escape!"Luo Han shouted while following closely behind it.
It ignored their attacks and clawed at the person in that direction.His reaction was slow and if nothing happened, the claws of the blazing flame lizard would slice him into two.
"Watch out!"Feng Wei shouted and pushed him away. Although he had reacted in time, the claw sliced his shoulder, almost severing his entire arm.
He slammed on a tree trunk sending a wave of pain through his body. Luo Han and company finally caught up and bombarded the beast with a round of attacks. After an incense stick worth of time, the blazing flame lizard finally died. They surrounded it's copse and started dissecting it.
"Hahahaha. It's actually a rank one monster core. We've struck it rich."Luo Han laughed while holding a pea sized scarlet red monster core. Monster beasts had monster cores which usually acted like the dantain in humans. It's where all their energy was stored . A monster core can be used to refine pills, set arrays or used in artifact refining.
After dividing the spoils, the trio rose to leave.
"What about my spoils?"A bloodied Fen Wei asked.
"You think you are qualified to receive a part of our spoils?"Luo Han looked at him disdainfully.
"But I almost got killed while saving his life" Feng Wei protested
"The reason you almost got killed is because you are nothing but trash. With only your fifth stage body tempering realm , cultivation you should be grateful you're even alive"Luo Han coldly snorted and led the others away.
Feng Wei clenched his fists but he knew there was nothing he could do. He could only swallow his anger and follow them. As darkness was closing in they decided to stay at the cave that previously belonged to the blazing flame lizard.
"We'll rest here and leave at dawn."Luo Han said .
Fen Wei dragged his weak and battered body and found a corner in the cave to rest.
Hours passed and his miserable condition only worsened. At dawn when the group was ready to leave, Feng Wei tried to stand up -but he fell. Luo Han looked at him with mild annoyance. His second attempt was also met with failure.
"Let's go."
"But what about him?"someone asked
"He will only drag us down"Luo Han answered impassionately.
The trio left the cave. Feng Wei looked at their receding figures, helplessness washing over him like a flood. He leaned against a wall in the cave and that's when he saw a faint almost imperceptible glow in the corner of his eyes. He clawed towards it and when his hand touched it an ancient desolate aura emerged from it followed closely by a powerful suction force. His entire vision turned white before.....

He found himself in a land filled with crimson and black flames.
"What is this place....."
"Hmmm. Someone has finally came in here. How long has it been....aaaah."a time worn voiced echoed across the entire dimension.
"Oooh it's actually someone from the Feng family. But why so weak. Anyway it's still better than nothing...."the voice sighed once more.
"Kid consider yourself lucky for having stumbled on me. I will help you change your fate and stand above all..."
The flames seemed to have been ignited by that voice. They surged and gathered above Feng Wei 's head taking the shape of a scarlet Phoenix with pitch black flames.
Screeeeeech
It let out a majestic screech that made his soul ache. It then looked at him with it's cold eyes before swooping down
[Ohh shit]
Feng Wei cursed. The Phoenix collided with him sending a white spasm of pain through his body. The pain was so intense he lost consciousness immediately.
