The moment I walked into the main hall, she caught my attention. Maya stood with her back to me, directing her team with animated gestures. Even from across the room, I recognized the way she tilted her head when concentrating, the graceful movement of her hands as she spoke. These small details had etched themselves into my memory during our brief time together.
I forced myself to look away, focusing on the Sterling delegation and scheduled meetings. Yet I remained acutely aware of her presence, as if she generated some invisible force that drew my attention whenever she crossed the space.
Dominic broke the news to me first.
"Heard there was drama with the Moonlight crew," he mentioned while scrolling through his phone. "Apparently Maya Hayes and Bianca Thorne got into it."
My entire body tensed, every nerve alert.
"Got into it how?"
Dominic looked surprised by my sharp response.
"Word is someone threw a slap. Security had to break it up."
