Chapter 3 - chapter 3: Exile

The forest swallowed me whole.

Cold air cut against my skin as I walked deeper into the night.

No pack.

No home.

No mate.

My chest ached, but strangely… the pain from the rejection was fading.

That wasn't normal.

Rejected wolves usually felt the bond break completely.

Mine hadn't.

I touched the glowing mark again.

"Why won't you disappear?" I whispered.

A twig snapped behind me.

I spun around.

Nothing.

Just shadows.

Then a low growl echoed through the trees.

Rogue wolves.

My heart dropped.

Without a pack, I was easy prey.

Three large wolves stepped from the

darkness, yellow eyes locked on me.

"Perfect," one of them sneered.

"A lonely Omega."

I backed away.

"I don't want trouble."

They laughed.

"You don't get to choose."

The largest wolf lunged.

Fear surged through me—

And suddenly the mark on my neck exploded with light.

A powerful shockwave burst from my body.

The rogues were thrown across the forest floor.

Silence fell.

Even I was terrified.

"What… was that?"

From the shadows, someone answered.

"Something very interesting."
