Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Pink dress

"Well then, Evie, it was my pleasure. I believe everyone deserves to be heard, and your story... It's quite touching." He leaned back into the car seat, a thoughtful expression crossing his face.

Then, he suddenly asked, "So, do you intend to get back at the people who betrayed you?"

Evie's mind went blank for a second.

Certainly, she had planned on getting revenge on those cruel people who thought they could ruin her life completely, and that plan starts with her marrying Westley, who happens to be more charming, rich, and famous, unlike Lucas, whose success and fame came from her genuine help.

She was sure her marriage alone to the most powerful figure in the country would serve as a face slap not only for Lucas and her stepfamily, but also for the people who wanted to see her downfall. They will all want to pass out seeing her with someone better than that jerk, Lucas.

As for Lucas, she will find it fun to watch him get jealous for the rest of his entire life, maybe he might regret playing along with her stepmother and stepsister's scheme to destroy her…

"I truly plan on getting my revenge later in the future, but for now, our marriage alone after being announced publicly will serve as a huge blow to all of them…" Evie paused, her face twisting slowly in realization. "Are you publicly announcing our marriage?" Evie's expression was solemn as she stressed each word.

Westley adjusted his sleeve.

"Of course, the board will want to announce my marriage publicly. They announced my relationship with my ex-fiancée six months back and also announced my marriage to her two days ago. I'm sure they will stop at nothing to announce our marriage publicly."

Evie grew nervous, she turned speechless, and couldn't think straight. "So it means our divorce will also be announced publicly?"

"If you're not okay with that. Then, I will find a way to stop them from getting our marriage announced to the public." Westley said, reassuringly.

"You don't have to worry, Mr. Lu. To be honest, I'm too obsessed with taking my revenge. Who cares what the public will say in the next six months? They don't own my life after all." Evie was clear with her words, and from Westley's facial expression, she could see he was pleased with her agreement to announce their marriage publicly.

"How about we throw a tantrum!" Westley said, smiling devilishly.

Evie almost drooled.

He looked dashing when sounding dangerous?

She nodded roughly, feeling ridiculous for having such a weird thought.

"What kind of tantrum…. Or are you still talking about my revenge?"

"Yes! Give me the location of your wedding, and we will be heading there as soon as I make some arrangements and get ourselves prepared." Evie's eyes widened. She never knew a man like Wesley Lu was a genius at face-slapping people.

His idea seemed utterly perfect, and now she was going to strike back at the devils and let them know that she was not to be messed with. Impressive!

Without any further hesitation, Evie immediately gave Westley the exact wedding location. He searched for it on a map locator app and soon found out that the wedding happened to be located in the biggest church hall in the city.

Right then, he saved the wedding location on his phone and checked outside for Eden, who was sitting on a public bench in front of the marriage registry office. He motioned for him to approach.

Entering the car's front seat, Eden turned to look at his Master, who was sitting on the left side of the car's backseat.

He asked. "Where are we heading, boss?"

"The city's biggest fashion store." Westley enunciated.

Eden was about to ask why he was suddenly going there, but didn't dare, fearing his master's temper would go wild on him!

He wondered if his master might be getting his new wife some new clothes and jewelry from the store. That had to be it. Why else would he be dragged along on such an unexpected outing?

Simply obeying his master's order, he prepared himself for the drive before starting the car and drove off.

The black Mercedes-Benz drove smoothly past the street. In the next fifteen minutes, the car pulled in front of a large, luxurious fashion store.

Evie stepped out with the assistance of Westley. She gazed up at the mall's sleek glass facade; it was a fascinating sight. This was a world away from anything she had ever known.

The moment they stepped inside, Evie couldn't hide her admiration. Everything about the store screamed deluxe; she could even bet that her wedding dress hadn't come from a place this magnificent.

Westley walked over to a young male salesperson. He requested, "Could you direct us to where you've put the wedding dress section?"

The young salesperson smiled. "Sure, sir, please follow me." With that, he turned and began to lead them deeper into the bustling department store. Westley and Evie followed closely.

Evie's eyes scanned the racks of the latest clothing they passed. She subconsciously paused, admiring a beautiful plain pink dress in a display window.

Westley, who had been following the salesperson alongside Eden, turned to look behind him, noticing Evie was no longer following them.

He immediately turned to his assistant. "Follow the salesperson. I will catch up with you soon," Eden didn't understand what was going on. He nodded obediently, following the salesperson without noticing that the Madam had stopped walking.

Evie, who had been staring at the pink dress unconsciously. Now snapped back to reality.

"Do you like them?" Westley asked, standing in front of her.

Startled, Evie took a quick step back and tripped on her wedding dress. Just as she was about to tumble, Westley's hand shot out, catching her around her slender waist. His enchanting grey eyes locked on her gorgeous golden-yellow ones.

Evie felt a warm heat rising to her face. She was embarrassed for subconsciously forgetting herself, and it seems that Westley already knew what she was craving for.
