Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Let's train my Ninjutsu

As the familiar text appeared, Mikami Yuu's eyelid twitched. He immediately tapped the prompt in front of him. It showed a chibi avatar of a red-haired girl:

[Potential romanceable target: Great Fireball Jutsu]

[Talk]

A: Hello, my name is Mikami Yuu. Nice to meet you.]

B: Your flames… are truly beautiful art!]

C: You're playing with fire—and you've successfully caught my attention! Be my jutsu. I'll make you the strongest Fire Style in the world!]

"…"

What is this overwhelming cringe-chūni energy? And why is there even overbearing-CEO dialogue in here?

Fighting back the embarrassment, Mikami Yuu picked the most normal option—A.

The next second, a fiery red dialogue box appeared, its border subtly bouncing like a living flame:

[Great Fireball Jutsu: Hmph. What stinky little brat crawled out of nowhere? Never heard of you! And you dare flirt with me? How ridiculous! Move it—don't block this young lady's path!]

The dialogue box vanished.

And the flame avatar on the romance list immediately turned gray.

"…?"

What was that supposed to mean—did I pick the wrong option?

Mikami Yuu blinked.

Obito had his hands on his hips, looking smug as he said to Rin, "Rin, well? Well? Wasn't that awesome?"

"Wow, that was amazing! I didn't know Obito-kun had already started learning Fire Style!"

Rin clapped.

Mikami Yuu clapped along, then quietly stabbed in the dark: "It really was impressive… it's just that it happened so fast I couldn't see clearly. Can you do it one more time?"

"Wh—"

Obito was about to refuse, but Mikami Yuu turned to Rin. "Rin, you want to see it again too, right?"

Nohara Rin nodded.

Seeing that, Obito instantly got fired up. "Fine! Then I'll show you again—watch closely!"

"Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!!"

"Great Fireball…"

"Great…"

Obito fired off Great Fireball several times in a row, only stopping when his chakra was nearly drained. Then, while secretly panting, he forced his chest out and tried to look calm and effortless.

Meanwhile, Mikami Yuu stared tensely at the system.

When Obito cast Great Fireball for the third time, the text box appeared again:

[You linger in the forest for a long time, and see Great Fireball Jutsu return after leaving. She seems surprised by your presence, but still stops, looking down at you with arrogant eyes.]

[Great Fireball Jutsu: You again? Hmph. You think camping here gives you a chance to get to know me? Dream on! But… since you're not bad-looking and you do have patience, I'll listen to you for a couple of sentences—if only out of charity.]

The exact same options popped up.

This time, Mikami Yuu chose B.

"Your flames are truly beautiful art!"

[Great Fireball Jutsu: Art? Smooth talker! That shallow nonsense doesn't deserve me! Only absolute power—heat that burns everything to ash—is the truth of this world! Come back when you can even spit out a spark!]

…Did I mess up again?

So I really do have to open with the "CEO line"?

Just as Mikami Yuu was at a loss—

[Great Fireball Jutsu Affection +1. Added to romance list!]

[Great Fireball Jutsu (Current Affection: 1/100 — Stranger)]

[Talk] [Practice]

Oh. So she's a tsundere.

Mikami Yuu finally got it.

This system really did run on straight-up galgame logic.

The Three Basic Jutsu were techniques he'd already learned at the Ninja Academy and could use at a basic level. So the moment the system activated, it bound them to him directly—and, based on their E-rank "starter jutsu" vibe, it classified them as the "three sisters next door":

Big sister, Transformation Technique, was a gentle, caring onee-san. Her starting affection was relatively high, and she spoke warmly—she even greeted him first when they "met."

Second sister, Clone Technique, was a sharp-tongued bratty gremlin. She even carried a bit of bitter-divorcée energy, clearly resentful about being "just a low-level jutsu."

Third sister, Substitution Technique, was quiet and withdrawn—not good with words, only watching him from the shadows…

A classic galgame trio, basically.

As for Great Fireball…

That was the "heaven-descended young lady."

Probably because it was the Uchiha clan's signature jutsu, her personality resembled an Uchiha: arrogant and standoffish on the surface, like she wanted to keep everyone at arm's length—but not truly cold inside. As long as you sweet-talked her and praised her a bit, she'd fold all on her own.

Honestly…

This brain-dead system was kind of fun.

Shame there were no character illustrations—killed the immersion a bit…

Mikami Yuu looked at Great Fireball's dialogue box—so easy to imagine as a blonde twin-tailed tsundere—and let out a slow breath. Then he brought his attention back to reality and, together with Rin, praised Obito a few more times.

As a transmigrator, Mikami Yuu's vocabulary was on another level compared to ninja kids his age.

After a full barrage of rainbow compliments, Obito's grin became impossible to suppress—like trying to hold down an AK's recoil. He even forgot to look at Rin.

"Hmph… I didn't expect you, Mikami, to have such good taste. Now you know how strong I am, right? So tell me—who's stronger, me or Kakashi?"

"Obviously you. How could Kakashi possibly compare to you?"

Mikami Yuu answered without hesitation.

"R-really?"

Obito scratched his head, a little embarrassed. "I didn't think you'd believe in me that much, Yuu… Then I'll take that as a good omen! When I become Hokage someday, I'll save you a consultant position!"

"…Wow. Thank you so much."

Only after the sun had completely set did Obito reluctantly say goodbye to Rin.

The three of them split up at the training ground's exit.

Obito headed back to the Uchiha district.

Mikami Yuu and Nohara Rin headed back to the civilian area.

On the way, Rin suddenly sighed. "Ever since Kakashi became a chūnin, it feels like everyone's trying so hard. Obito, Guy, and you too, Yuu-kun… At this rate, I won't even be able to see your backs anymore."

"…Don't say that."

Mikami Yuu thought: the reason he'd been working hard was just to survive a few more years in this brutal world. It had nothing to do with Kakashi.

Still, Rin's worry was also what most civilian-born ninja kids felt.

Because what the Ninja Academy could teach was really limited. Many civilians graduated—and even reached chūnin—still only knowing the Three Basic Jutsu plus some standard taijutsu. If you were lucky enough to pick up one or two C-rank techniques, you were already considered a core fighting chūnin.

By the way, when did Rin learn medical ninjutsu?

The original story never really said.

But it definitely wasn't a normal Academy course.

Mikami Yuu thought for a moment, came up empty, and could only say a bit awkwardly, "Honestly, Rin, your talent is pretty good too. You use the Three Basic Jutsu really solidly, your chakra control is good, and you're thoughtful… maybe you could consider developing toward medical ninjutsu."

"Medical ninjutsu?"
