Chapter 9 - The Mirror That Reflects Magic

The hole in the wall was still smoking.

Felix Arden stood frozen in the middle of the antique shop, staring at the mirror like he had just discovered a new law of the universe.

Which, to be fair, he might have.

A few seconds passed.

Then Felix slowly whispered,

"…That was my spell."

Eunwoo mentally nodded.

"Yes."

"Yes it was."

Felix looked at his staff.

Then at the hole in the wall.

Then back at the mirror.

"…But stronger."

Eunwoo blinked.

"Oh?"

From Eunwoo's perspective, the system simply reflected the magic.

But Felix clearly saw something different.

The apprentice mage walked closer to the mirror cautiously.

His eyes were filled with curiosity.

"You reflected it."

He spoke slowly, analyzing every detail.

"And improved it."

Eunwoo groaned internally.

"Why does everyone think I'm improving things?"

The system remained silent.

Which Eunwoo was starting to interpret as guilty silence.

Felix tapped his chin thoughtfully.

"…Interesting."

Unlike the others, he didn't immediately bow again.

Instead he looked excited.

Like a scientist discovering something new.

"This is incredible."

Eunwoo liked this guy already.

Finally, someone reacting with curiosity instead of worship.

Felix raised his staff again.

"Let's test something."

Eunwoo sighed.

"Here we go."

A small flame formed again at the tip of the staff.

But this time Felix controlled it carefully.

"Fire Bolt."

The spell shot forward again.

The system responded instantly.

[Skill detected: Fire Bolt.]

[Reflection activated.]

The mirror shimmered.

The fire spell entered the reflection.

Then returned.

Faster.

Hotter.

BOOM.

The reflected bolt slammed into the far wall again.

Felix jumped aside just in time.

The shop shook slightly.

More smoke filled the air.

Felix stared in amazement.

"…Again."

He turned toward the mirror with shining eyes.

"It really improves the spell."

Eunwoo mentally shrugged.

"Sure."

"Let's go with that."

Felix suddenly laughed.

A loud, excited laugh.

"HAHA!"

"This is amazing!"

Eunwoo blinked.

"…Why is he happy about nearly burning down the shop?"

Felix lowered his staff and bowed slightly.

Not as deeply as the others.

But still respectful.

"I understand now."

Eunwoo wondered what misunderstanding had formed this time.

Felix spoke confidently.

"You are not just reflecting spells."

Eunwoo sighed.

"Yes I am."

Felix continued.

"You are revealing the true form of them."

Eunwoo tilted mentally.

"True form?"

Felix nodded.

"A spell cast by a human is imperfect."

He tapped his chest.

"Our control is flawed."

"Our mana flow is unstable."

He gestured toward the mirror.

"But you…"

"…return the perfect version."

Eunwoo thought about that.

Then he checked his system panel.

Stored Abilities

• Shadow Dagger Technique

• Heavy Cleave

• Swift Blade Style – Refined

• Combat Instinct

• Fire Bolt

The Fire Bolt skill looked slightly different.

Fire Bolt – Refined

Eunwoo blinked.

"…Wait."

"It improved already?"

Felix crossed his arms.

His mind was racing with possibilities.

"If this mirror truly reveals perfect spell structures…"

His eyes widened.

"…then it could revolutionize magic."

Eunwoo groaned.

"Please don't revolutionize anything."

Felix bowed again.

This time more respectfully.

"Reflected One."

Eunwoo braced himself.

"Yes yes I know."

Felix spoke seriously.

"May I return to study here?"

Eunwoo froze.

"…Study?"

Felix continued.

"I wish to observe how spells change through reflection."

He looked extremely excited.

"This could improve my magic tremendously."

Eunwoo thought about it.

Mage training in front of him meant…

More spells.

Better spells.

Stronger spells.

"Approved."

Of course, he still couldn't speak.

Felix interpreted the silence differently.

"I understand."

He nodded respectfully.

"A true master does not speak lightly."

Eunwoo mentally facepalmed again.

Felix turned toward the door.

"I will return tomorrow."

Before leaving, he glanced at the damaged wall.

"…I should also bring money for repairs."

Eunwoo liked him even more now.

"Responsible disciple."

Felix paused at the door.

Then he said quietly,

"The Reflected One truly is incredible."

And left.

The shop became silent again.

Eunwoo stared at the smoking wall.

"…Harun is going to be mad."

Right on cue—

The shop owner walked out from the back room.

He looked at the hole in the wall.

Then at the mirror.

Then at the hole again.

"…What."

Eunwoo tried to look innocent.

Which was difficult.

Because mirrors always reflected exactly what was in front of them.

Harun rubbed his temples.

"First adventurers start flying."

"Now my wall explodes."

He sighed deeply.

"I'm getting too old for this."

Then he grabbed a wooden plank.

"Well…"

"Time to fix another stupid problem."

Eunwoo felt slightly guilty.

"…Sorry old man."

The system suddenly chimed again.

[New Ability Evolution Available.]

Eunwoo blinked.

"…Oh?"

A new message appeared.

Fire Bolt has reached Evolution Threshold

Possible upgrade path available.

Eunwoo grinned internally.

"Oh this mirror life is getting good."

Meanwhile, across town—

Three different rumors were spreading at the same time.

The mirror that defeated adventurers.

The mirror that perfected sword techniques.

And now—

The mirror that reflected magic itself.

Slowly…

Quietly…

The legend of The Reflected One continued growing.

And Lee Eunwoo was still just a confused mirror on a dusty wall.

Collecting abilities.

Accidentally building a religion.

And waiting for the next idiot to attack him.
