But as the days pass, Aarav begins to notice something strange. Mira is hiding something. Something serious. Chapter 1: The Boy Who Loved Sunsets

Every evening at exactly 5:42 PM, Aarav walked to the same lonely hill outside the town.

It had become a habit so natural that he no longer thought about it. His feet simply followed the path through the quiet road, past the old trees, and up the small slope that overlooked the wide horizon.

Most people never came here.

The hill wasn't special to anyone else. There were no benches, no lights, no shops. Just tall grass, cool wind, and an endless sky stretching far beyond the town.

But to Aarav, it was perfect.

He reached the top of the hill and sat down on the soft grass like he always did. The air was calm, and the sound of the wind gently brushing through the grass created a peaceful rhythm.

In the distance, the town looked small and quiet.

People were probably rushing home from work. Children were playing somewhere. Cars moved slowly along the roads.

But up here, everything felt different.

Up here, the world slowed down.

Aarav lifted his eyes toward the sky.

The sun was beginning its slow descent toward the horizon. The bright blue sky was slowly changing into warm shades of orange and gold.

This was his favorite part of the day.

Sunsets were strange things.

They were beautiful, yet a little sad at the same time.

Every sunset felt like a quiet goodbye.

Aarav pulled his knees closer and rested his arms on them.

He had always liked watching sunsets ever since he was a child. Back then, he didn't understand why they fascinated him so much.

But as he grew older, he began to realize something.

Sunsets were honest.

They never tried to stay forever. They didn't fight against time. They simply faded away slowly, painting the sky with beautiful colors before disappearing.

Aarav liked that.

People tried too hard to hold onto things.

But sunsets just… let go.

A gentle breeze passed through the hill, making the tall grass sway softly.

A few birds flew across the sky, heading back toward their nests before night arrived.

The sky was turning deeper now.

Orange melted into pink. Pink slowly blended into soft purple.

Aarav quietly watched the colors change.

For a moment, he forgot about everything else.

School. Homework. Expectations. The constant noise of life.

Here on this hill, none of that mattered.

It was just him and the sunset.

He took a slow breath.

"Another day," he murmured softly to himself.

His voice disappeared into the wind.

Aarav leaned back slightly and placed his hands behind him on the grass.

Sometimes he wondered if anyone else in the world loved sunsets as much as he did.

Probably not.

Most people were too busy staring at their phones or rushing through life to notice the sky.

To them, a sunset was just another normal evening.

To Aarav, it felt like a quiet story unfolding in the sky every day.

And today's sunset looked especially beautiful.

The sun was now halfway below the horizon, glowing like a golden coin sinking into the earth.

The colors around it were spreading across the sky like paint on a giant canvas.

Aarav smiled faintly.

Moments like this were rare.

Moments where the world felt calm.

Moments where his thoughts finally slowed down.

He closed his eyes for a second, letting the cool wind brush against his face.

Then suddenly—

"Do you always look this serious while watching the sunset?"

Aarav's eyes snapped open.

He quickly turned his head toward the voice.

Standing a few steps behind him was a girl.

She looked around his age.

Her hair was slightly messy, moving freely in the wind, and her eyes sparkled with curiosity like she had just discovered something interesting.

A small playful smile rested on her face.

Aarav blinked in confusion.

He had been coming to this hill for years.

And no one had ever come here before.

Before he could say anything, the girl casually walked forward and sat down beside him in the grass.

Like she belonged there.

Aarav stared at her, unsure what to say.

The girl looked at the sunset for a moment and stretched her arms comfortably.

"Wow," she said softly. "The view here is amazing."

Aarav finally spoke.

"Who are you?"

The girl turned toward him with that same cheerful smile.

"My name is Mira," she said. "And you look like someone who carries way too many thoughts."

Aarav frowned slightly.

"What does that even mean?"

Mira laughed quietly.

"It means," she said, pointing toward the sky, "most people watch sunsets like this."

She pretended to quickly glance at the horizon and then look away.

"But you," she continued, studying him carefully, "watch it like you're trying to understand it."

Aarav didn't know how to respond.

He had never met someone this strange before.

Or this honest.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

They both looked toward the horizon as the sun slowly continued its descent.

The sky was glowing now.

Bright orange fading into deep purple.

The wind gently moved through the grass around them.

Aarav felt something unusual.

For the first time in years…

He wasn't alone on the hill.

Mira suddenly leaned back on her hands and looked at the sky.

"You know," she said thoughtfully, "I think sunsets are proof that endings can still be beautiful."

Aarav glanced at her.

He had never heard someone describe sunsets like that before.

The sun sank lower.

The sky darkened slowly.

But Aarav barely noticed the sunset anymore.

Because for the first time…

Someone had appeared in his quiet world.

And somehow, he had a strange feeling that this girl named Mira was about to change everything.
