Chapter 408: You're a Sneaky One
The moment Ryū used the "Ki" Quality Enhancement Card, he felt something close to a total transformation ripple through the Ki inside him — though, somewhat to his relief, the process didn't bring with it any real discomfort. Not even a flicker of pain.
That strange, unsettled sensation lingered for a few minutes before finally fading away entirely. His Ki's quality had, apparently, genuinely doubled. Probably.
He gathered a small orb of Ki at his fingertip, about the size of a billiard ball. Still that same familiar deep blue color as always, but this time —
He couldn't quite say if it was his imagination, but the color seemed noticeably more crystalline, more refined than before. Maybe not just his imagination, actually.
And he could sense, with total clarity, that this billiard-ball-sized orb of Ki now carried enough raw power to flatten the entirety of Konoha.
Actually — not just one Konoha. Several Konohas, easily, without much difficulty at all.
The upgrade to his Ki's quality had triggered a genuinely dramatic shift in his overall power. Before, he and Yukari had probably been fairly evenly matched — an actual fight between them could've gone either way.
Now, though... Ryū felt confident stating, with total certainty, that he could pin a certain youkai sage down flat — er, that is, pin her straight into her own keyboard, grinding her face back and forth across it relentlessly.
Enough to get that certain youkai sage typing out pure gibberish, something like "hxggkblgt..." straight onto the screen.
Exactly how much stronger he'd actually gotten, he could only guess at for now — whether his own estimate matched reality would need an actual test in the Arena to confirm.
And conveniently, he now had 50 free Arena revivals to burn through — at 20 Points a pop normally, that worked out to 1,000 Points' worth of savings.
Fifty free revival tokens, essentially, sitting there unused — waste not, want not.
Not that Ryū was in any rush to test his new strength just yet. His consciousness slipped into the chat group first.
RawrSoFierce: [Image] [Image] This group event's rewards were genuinely pretty generous — way better than usual, honestly.
Eternally Seventeen: Whoa, 6,000 Points from the Points prizes alone?! What kind of luck is that?
Eternally Seventeen: Unacceptable... why did I only pull 2,500 Points? Not fair at all! The Dimensional Chat Group is clearly out to get poor, adorable little me specifically.
Kaguya-sama: Wait, Admin-sama's Ki quality got a boost too? Which means his strength just jumped again, doesn't it?
Kaguya-sama: Sounds like Yukari-nee's never going to catch up to Admin-sama at this rate.
Eternally Seventeen: !!!
My True Form Is Cola: A Newcomer Invitation prize? Whoa, that's a real thing?!
Kaguya-sama: Come to think of it, I actually pulled one of those too...
RawrSoFierce: Not confirmed yet either way — still haven't decided who I'd even want to bring in.
Wandering Little Planet: Jealousy's tearing me apart right now, I only got 4,000 Points, two Skill Breakthrough Cards, a commemorative badge, and one proficiency boost card.
Eternally Seventeen: ...That's already genuinely good luck, honestly. What I pulled isn't even worth half of what you just listed!
Crazy Diamond: Genuinely terrifying. Yukari-senpai's luck really does remain one of the great unsolved mysteries of this group.
I'm Rolling In It: ...Uncle Tony's shutting down emotionally right now, only pulled 1,500 Points...
Roar of the Evil Dragon: Emmm, looks like there's someone even worse off here.
Crazy Diamond: Right, almost forgot — Mr. Stark's luck makes Yukari-senpai's look downright reasonable by comparison!
Crazy Diamond: I'm genuinely starting to think all that constant empty boasting has cursed Mr. Stark specifically with bad luck.
I'm Rolling In It: Huh? Is that actually how it works? Pfft, well, good luck getting Uncle Tony to stop running his mouth. Not happening. Not in this lifetime.
RawrSoFierce: If Stark, resident rich playboy, ever stopped talking a big game, he wouldn't be Tony Stark anymore — the man's basically Marvel's most famous loudmouth.
The Ancient One: Good thing I don't talk much day to day — my gift box turned out pretty solid, decent luck on my end.
Street-Corner Illustrator: Wait, everyone's already opened their boxes this fast?
Street-Corner Illustrator: I was planning to pick out an auspicious day before opening mine!
Street-Corner Illustrator: Well, since everyone else already went ahead, guess I'll just crack mine open too, why not.
Kaguya-sama: Pfft... "picking an auspicious day" to open a gift box, seriously? Eriri, where do you even come up with these deliciously weird schemes?
My True Form Is Cola: Must be a manga artist's brain at work — genuinely terrifying, honestly.
Street-Corner Illustrator: I think picking a lucky day before opening it is totally reasonable, actually — the stuff inside these boxes isn't cheap. What if your luck's bad that day?
Eternally Seventeen: That's a genuinely good point. I bet the reason my haul was such garbage is exactly because I picked a bad day without realizing it.
Eternally Seventeen: So how exactly do you pick an auspicious day, though? Is there some trick to it?
Street-Corner Illustrator: Not much of a trick, really — just check your daily sign-in before opening the box. If you pull a decent number of Points from that, today's probably a lucky day for you overall.
Street-Corner Illustrator: And boom, auspicious day confirmed! (σ???)σ
Eternally Seventeen: ???
RawrSoFierce: ???
Kaguya-sama: ...You're a sneaky one, aren't you!
Ying Zheng The Sovereign: ???
I'm Rolling In It: Wait, the daily sign-in can actually be used like that?
Crazy Diamond: Terrifying!
"..."
Sure, it sounded more than a little unreliable on the surface, but thinking it through, there was actually a kernel of real logic buried in there somewhere.
If you pulled 100 Points from your daily sign-in, that presumably meant your overall luck was running high that day — so your luck opening the gift box afterward should track along the same curve, right?
Genuinely, this chat group was crawling with talent — every single one of them capable of pulling off the most delightfully absurd schemes imaginable.
Especially the ones who spent the most time idly chatting in the group — an endless, ever-inventive parade of genuinely bizarre little life hacks.
