Chapter 2 - First day

My mom just dropped me off at this new school, or better to say hell. Before I got out of the car she warned me.

" Ella, don't you dare make any problems here. I want you to change yourself and your attitude, so you can have a better school life. Okay?" .

Ugh. I hate when she tells me that I have to change myself. But I can't really say it out lout to her. So I just nodded as I exited from the car and slamed the door.

I took long and fast steps towards the school gate.

Rosewood High.- Was written on the gate.

That was the name of this school, or rather hell.

I opened the gate and closed it behind me. Whispers started imediatley.

The first rumor I heard about myself here was that I got expelled for breaking a boy's nose.

Honestly?

That wasn't even the worst one.

By the time I stepped trough the front gates, at least three different versions of my story were already floating around the school.

In one of them, I'd started a fight during a school dance. In another, I'd punched a teacher. My personal favourite was the one where I'd been arrested.

I adjusted the strap of my bag on my shoulder and walked across the courtyard like none of it mattered.

Let them talk.

New school. New rules. New people. Same me.

Rosewood High looked exactly like every other hell- I mean school I'd been forced to attend- red brick buildings, students pretending they weren't staring, whispers floating trough the air like static.

" Is that her?"

"That's the new girl?"

" I heard she got kicked out of her last school."

I didn't stop walking.

Confidence isn't something you're born with. It's something you build after people try to break you enough times.

I walked trough the school hallways and whispers grew louder. My locker was near the end of the hallway. I had just spun the combination, when someone slamed the locker next to mine shut. Hard. I looked up. And there he was.

Tall. Dark hair. Dark eyes, that had danger in them. That anoying kind of confident that only people who have never been told " no" seem to have. The spoiled, rich, bratty kind of person. His eyes looked at me like I was a problem he had already been planing to solve for a long time.

" Let me guess?"- he said lazily.

"You're the new girl everyone's been talking about?"- his eyes staring deep into my soul. Wow. Maybe he can read my mind too.

I leaned against my locker closing it shut, crossing mu arms while also, of course rolling my eyes.

" And you are?"

A slow smirk appeared on his face. His eyes flasing with arogance.

" If you really don't know, let me introduce myself"- he said, as he started getting closer to me. But not invading my personal space.

" My name is Zeke Whynder. Remember it well. Everyone here is scared of me, becaouse I have strong connections with the school principal. So be careful about what you say about me. Miss Ayson."

Wow. Is he a king or something? Surely doesen't look like one to me.

" Wow, you know your own name. Should I start clapping to you?"

" Tsk." He said while that anoying smirk on his face fadded away. I knew my attitude was starting to annoy him.

" You don't seem that important to me." - I smiled to him.

" You know, miss Ayson, I can easlily get rid of you from this school if you continue with your attitude. Show me some respect."-

Now the people notticed us two arguing. They were getting closer so they could hear what was going on. I didn't care about them. Go on, come sit on my lap so you could hear better.

" Tss, do I look like I care"-

As I said that people started gasping and whispering even more. And Zeke was starting to get really mad at me.

" Listen, if you think that I will be afraid of you. You are so wrong."- I said and smiled.

" Now move out of my way"- I pushed him away and started walking away. Now whispers were growing even louder. Or maybe I was just noticing it more now.

Whispers followed me as I walked towards my first class, bouncing off the lockers and sliding between conversations that seemed to stop a little too quicky when I passed.

" That's her."

"The one who got expelled?"

" I heard she broke someone's nose."

Maybe you were the next one.

I kept my eyes forward.

People love rumors. Especially when they involve someone they've never actually spoken to.

Room 214.

I pushed the door open.

The classroom went quiet for half a second- the kind of quiet that feels heavy, like everyone's holding their breath just long enough to look at you.

Perfect.

The teacher glanced up from her desk.

" You must be the transfer student?"

" Ella Ailani Ayson"- I said, and noticed everyone staring at me with disgusted looks.

Maybe their eyes could fall out if they continue.

The teacher nodded towards the class.

" Find a seat, miss Ayson".

Simple enough.

Exept it wasn't.

I walked down the first row. A girl quickly dropped her bag onto the empty chair beside her. Second row. A guy spread his notebook across the desk next to him like he suddenly needed double the space.

Third row.

Someone actually muttered, " Don't sit here"

I almost laughed.

Wow they were efficient.

By the time I reached the middle of the room, the message was pretty clear.

No one wanted the " problem girl" sitting next to them.

Fine by me.

I kept walking until I reached the very back of the classroom. The last desk near the window was empty.

Of course it was.I dropped my bag onto the chair and sat down, leaning back like this had been my plan the whole time.

The back of the class was better anyway.

Less people. Less pretending.

Outside the window, wind moved trough the trees in the courtyard. Inside the room, whispers kept circiling like millions of anoying flies.

" Why is she here?"

So idiots like you could wonder why.

" She probably got kicked out."

Maybe i did.

" She looks like trouble"

Good.

I rested my elbow on the desk, staring toward the front of the room as the teacher started talking.

Let them whisper. Let them stare.

If they thought sitting alone in the back of a classroom was enough to bother me, they clearly didn't know me yet. Becaouse I'd been sitting alone long before Rosewood High.

And something told me this school was about to regret making me the villain.

" Class! We are taking attendance now, so pay attention!"- ma'am said making everyone turn to her.

" Ezra Imerson?"

"Here"

" Sky Yair?"

"Here"

"Angela Ryder?"

"Here"

"Asher Heide?"

"Here"

"Cyrus Hidalgo?"

"Here"

Marcus Nico Mitchell?"

"Here"

"Abigail Mia Collins?"

"Here"

"Yash Zenter?"

" He's not here ma'am"

"Ella Ailani Ayson?"

"Here"

" and lastly Zeke Whynder"

" not here ma'am!"

Wait Zeke Whynder? That's the guy from earlier. Ugh he's in this class too. I hope he will be far away from me. I wonder who Yash is? Didn't hear about him today.

The day ended pretty quickly. I spent all the rest of my classes just the same. Sitting in the back of the class, minding my own bussines, and everyone minding my own bussines too instead of theirs.

Whatever.
