Chapter 28 - 28

The mansion was completely silent.

It was far past midnight.

The room was dark except for the faint light coming through the curtains.

Jay was lying against Keifer's chest.

His arm was loosely around her.

To anyone looking…

It would seem like both of them were asleep.

But neither of them really were.

Keifer had closed his eyes.

Breathing slowly.

Pretending to sleep.

Jay stayed still for a long time.

Listening to his breathing.

Making sure he was asleep.

Minutes passed.

Then slowly…

Her body began to tremble.

A quiet sob escaped her lips.

She immediately covered her mouth.

Trying not to wake him.

But the tears had already started falling.

Jay whispered softly.

Her voice barely audible.

"Keifer…"

She looked up at his face.

He didn't move.

His breathing stayed calm.

Jay believed he was asleep.

Her fingers tightened slightly on his shirt.

And the words she had been holding inside for months finally began to come out.

"I'm sorry…"

Her voice broke.

"I'm really sorry."

Tears rolled down her cheeks onto his shirt.

"I didn't know what I was doing."

She sniffed quietly.

"I thought… I thought Yuri loved me."

Her shoulders trembled.

"But he didn't."

Her voice shook more now.

"He made me feel so small."

Jay closed her eyes tightly.

"He laughed at me in front of his friends."

"He mocked everything I did."

"If I spoke too much… he said I was annoying."

"If I stayed quiet… he said I was boring."

Another sob escaped her.

"I didn't know how to be right."

Her fingers gripped Keifer's shirt harder.

"And when he humiliated me…"

Her voice cracked.

"I had no one."

Tears fell continuously now.

"I wanted to come to you so many times."

"So many times."

Jay pressed her face against his chest.

"But I was scared."

"I thought you hated me."

Her breathing became uneven.

"I deserved it…"

"Because I left you."

Her voice became softer.

Almost like a child confessing something.

"I miss you…"

"I miss you so much."

Her hand slowly moved.

Holding his shirt tightly.

"I want my Keifer back."

Her voice trembled again.

"The one who used to fight with me."

"The one who teased me."

"The one who never let me feel alone."

Jay cried quietly for a long time.

Every pain she had buried finally coming out.

"Yuri broke me."

"I felt worthless."

"But when I see you…"

Her voice softened.

"I feel safe again."

Another tear fell.

"I just want you back completely."

Her words faded slowly.

The crying had exhausted her.

Her breathing gradually became steady again.

Within minutes…

Jay fell asleep.

Still holding onto his shirt.

The room was silent again.

But Keifer's eyes slowly opened.

They were wet.

Tears had gathered in them without him realizing.

He stared at the ceiling.

His jaw tight.

Every word she said was still echoing in his mind.

Every sob.

Every apology.

Every confession.

He carefully looked down at her.

Jay was sleeping peacefully again.

Her face slightly swollen from crying.

Still holding onto him.

Keifer gently moved his hand.

Brushing away a strand of hair from her face.

His vision blurred again.

A tear slipped down the side of his face.

He whispered quietly into the darkness.

"So stupid…"

But his voice was full of pain.

Because hearing everything she had gone through…

Hurt him more than he expected.

And for the first time in months…

Keifer allowed himself to cry silently in the dark. 💔
