Morning light slowly entered the room through the curtains.
Soft golden sunlight spread across the bed.
The mansion was quiet.
Peaceful.
Jay was still lying on the bed.
Her head resting on Keifer's chest.
His arm loosely around her.
But Jay was not asleep anymore.
Her eyes were closed.
Yet she was fully awake.
She had woken up a few minutes earlier.
The moment she realized where she was…
And whose arms she was in…
Her heart started beating faster.
She stayed completely still.
Too embarrassed to move.
Too comfortable to leave.
She could hear Keifer's slow breathing.
For a moment she wondered if he was still asleep.
Then suddenly…
Keifer stirred.
His breathing changed slightly.
Jay froze immediately.
Pretending to sleep.
Keifer slowly opened his eyes.
The morning light made him blink once.
Then he looked down.
And saw Jay.
Still lying in his arms.
Her hair spread across the pillow.
Her face relaxed.
Her hand lightly gripping his shirt.
Keifer stared at her quietly for a few seconds.
Then a soft laugh escaped him.
A quiet amused laugh.
He shook his head slightly.
And whispered to himself,
"You're still my queen."
Jay's heart almost stopped hearing that.
She tried very hard not to react.
Her face started becoming warm.
But she kept her eyes closed.
Keifer looked at her a little longer.
His expression soft.
The kind of expression he rarely showed anyone.
He believed she was still asleep.
Carefully…
He lifted his hand.
Gently brushing the hair away from her forehead.
Then he leaned down slightly.
And placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
Jay's entire body felt warm.
But she didn't move.
Didn't open her eyes.
Keifer slowly moved away from her.
Careful not to wake her.
He adjusted the blanket around her shoulders.
Then he got up from the bed.
Walking quietly toward the door.
Before leaving, he looked back once.
Jay still pretending to sleep.
He smiled faintly.
Then he turned off the light and left the room.
The door closed softly.
The room became silent again.
A few seconds passed.
Then slowly…
Jay opened her eyes.
Her cheeks were bright red.
She touched her forehead gently.
Exactly where he kissed her.
A shy smile appeared on her face.
And she buried her face into the pillow.
