Night had almost fallen outside the hospital.
The corridor lights looked dull and cold.
The red light above the operation theatre was still glowing.
Keifer was still sitting in the same place.
His eyes were tired.

But still fixed on that one door.
Ella, Freya, Grace, Rakki and Percy sat nearby.
No one had spoken much for hours.
The silence felt heavy.

The red light above the OT turned off.
Everyone stood up immediately.
The door slowly opened.
A doctor walked out.
His face looked extremely tired.
Sweat on his forehead.
His shoulders slightly slumped.
The moment the gang saw his exhausted face…
Their hearts dropped.
Freya covered her mouth.
Grace's eyes filled with fear.
Rakki clenched Percy's arm tightly.
Ella felt her stomach twist.
Keifer stood frozen.
He didn't even dare to move.

No one spoke.
The doctor removed his mask slowly.
His expression still serious.
And everyone felt their hope fading.
Keifer's voice finally came out.

"Doctor…"
The doctor looked at them.

He smiled.

"She's stable."

No one reacted.
Like their brains needed time to understand the words.
Then Ella gasped loudly.
Freya burst into tears.
Grace covered her face with relief.
Rakki almost collapsed into Percy's arms.
"Oh thank god!"
But Keifer…
Keifer just stood there.
Completely still.
His eyes wide.
He whispered again,
"Stable?"
The doctor nodded.
"The surgery was very critical."
"The knife caused heavy internal bleeding."
"But we managed to stop it."
Everyone let out breaths they didn't realize they were holding.
The doctor continued,
"She is still unconscious."
"And the next 24 hours are important."
"But for now…"
He smiled again.
"She is out of danger."
That was when Keifer's legs finally gave up.
He leaned against the wall.
His head falling back slightly.
His eyes closing for a moment.
A deep breath escaped his chest.
Like someone had finally returned his soul to him.
Ella walked to him quietly.
"You heard that?"
Keifer nodded slowly.
His voice shaking slightly.
"She's alive."
A small tear rolled down his face again.
But this time…
