Chapter 4 - Chapter 3 – The Sleeping Dragon

Elina was a simple human girl who lived in a small village near a vast and mysterious forest. The villagers often warned everyone to stay away from the forest because they believed something strange lived deep inside it. But Elina was always curious and loved adventures.

One evening, as the sun was setting, Elina decided to explore the forest. As she walked deeper inside, everything felt different. The air was colder, and the tall trees blocked most of the sunlight. After a while, the birds suddenly stopped singing, and an unusual silence filled the forest.

Elina felt a little nervous, but her curiosity pushed her forward. Soon, she noticed a faint blue light glowing between the trees. She slowly followed the light and discovered an old cave hidden behind thick vines. Strange ancient symbols were carved around the entrance of the cave.

Carefully, Elina stepped inside. The cave was dark, but the blue glow helped her see the path ahead. As she walked further, she noticed a large shining scale lying on the ground. It was far too big to belong to any normal animal.

Suddenly, she heard a deep, slow breathing sound echoing through the cave… as if a gigantic creature was sleeping inside. 🐉

Elina stood frozen inside the cave, her heart beating faster with every second. The deep breathing sound echoed through the dark space, rising and falling slowly, like the steady rhythm of a sleeping giant. She looked around carefully, trying to see where the sound was coming from.

The blue light that had guided her into the cave seemed to grow brighter the deeper she walked. The walls of the cave were covered with ancient carvings. Strange symbols and pictures were etched into the stone—some showed giant winged creatures flying across the sky, while others looked like humans kneeling before them.

Elina reached out and gently touched one of the carvings. The stone felt cold under her fingers.

"What is this place…?" she whispered to herself.

She continued walking forward, step by step, trying not to make any noise. The cave slowly widened into a massive underground chamber. In the center of the chamber, a large glowing crystal stood on a stone platform. The blue light she had been following was coming from that crystal.

Elina's eyes widened in amazement.

"It's beautiful," she said softly.

The crystal pulsed slowly, as if it had a heartbeat of its own. Its light illuminated the entire chamber, revealing piles of ancient treasure scattered around—gold coins, broken weapons, and pieces of shining armor covered in dust.

But something else caught Elina's attention.

On the ground near the crystal were several enormous scales, similar to the one she had found earlier. They were dark silver, each one as large as her hand.

Suddenly, the deep breathing sound grew louder.

Elina's body tensed. She slowly turned her head toward the far end of the chamber. At first, she could only see shadows. But as the crystal's light flickered across the darkness, a massive shape slowly became visible.

Her breath stopped.

A gigantic creature lay curled in the shadows. Its body was covered in shining scales, and its enormous wings were folded tightly around it like a cloak. Two long horns curved from its head, and faint smoke escaped from its nostrils each time it breathed.

It was a dragon.

Not just any dragon—but one far larger than anything Elina had ever imagined.

The creature looked ancient, as if it had been sleeping for hundreds of years.

Elina's legs trembled. Every story she had ever heard about dragons suddenly rushed through her mind. Some stories said dragons were wise protectors. Others said they were terrifying monsters that destroyed entire kingdoms.

She didn't know which one was true.

Trying not to panic, Elina slowly stepped backward. Her foot accidentally hit a small stone on the ground.

Clink.

The sound echoed loudly across the cave.

The dragon's breathing suddenly stopped.

For a moment, the entire cave fell silent.

Then, slowly… the massive creature began to move. One enormous claw twitched, and its long tail shifted slightly across the stone floor.

Elina's eyes widened with fear.

"Please… don't wake up," she whispered under her breath.

But it was already too late.

From the darkness, two enormous golden eyes slowly opened. 🐉
