chapter 1: The Interview Day

Chapter 1: The Interview Day

Ji-woo walked slowly down the busy street, holding her file tightly against her chest.

Another interview.

Another chance.

Tall office buildings surrounded her as she entered the company building. The lobby was full of people dressed in formal clothes, all waiting for the same thing — a job.

Ji-woo sat quietly and looked at the floor, trying to calm her nervous heart.

"Kim Ji-woo."

Her name was finally called.

She quickly stood up and walked into the interview room.

The interview lasted only fifteen minutes.

When she walked out, she already knew the answer.

Another rejection.

Ji-woo forced a polite smile and bowed before leaving the building.

Outside, the cold wind brushed against her face.

She sighed deeply.

"Why is finding a job so difficult...?"

Her phone suddenly started ringing.

It was her older sister.

Ji-woo answered immediately.

"Unni? Is everything okay?"

Her sister's voice sounded cheerful.

"Ji-woo, listen. I told my in-laws that you went abroad, so you won't come to the wedding."

Ji-woo stopped walking.

"What? Why would you say that?"

"I didn't want them asking questions about your job again," her sister replied gently. "You always look uncomfortable when they do."

Ji-woo felt a small pain in her chest but stayed silent.

Then her sister said something surprising.

"I already booked a ticket for you. You're going on a short trip."

"A trip?"

"Yes. To Jeju Island. You need a break."

Ji-woo stared at her phone in shock.

A trip to Jeju?

She had no idea that this small decision would soon change her life completely.
