Chapter 6 - Truth and Second Chances

Chapter 15: The Man From the Past

The hall of the book festival in Delhi was full of people, but for Ariana it suddenly felt silent.

Arman stood in front of her table.

Five years had passed since the last time she saw him in Kolkata.

Five years without a message.

Five years without an explanation.

Ariana slowly closed the book she was signing.

"You shouldn't be here," she said quietly.

Arman looked at her with regret in his eyes.

"I know."

"Then why are you?"

For a moment he didn't answer.

"I came to see you," he finally said.

Ariana gave a small, bitter smile.

"You already saw me five years ago. In the library. In the garden. In the café. Then you disappeared."

Arman lowered his eyes.

"I deserve that."

Ariana stood up from her chair.

"Excuse me," she told the readers waiting in line.

Then she walked outside the hall.

Arman followed her.

The cool evening air of Delhi felt heavy with unspoken words.

Ariana finally turned toward him.

"You owe me the truth."

Chapter 16: The Truth He Hid

Arman took a deep breath.

"My father forced me to leave," he said.

Ariana crossed her arms.

"So you left without saying goodbye?"

"If I had talked to you… I wouldn't have been able to leave."

"You should have tried."

"I was weak," Arman admitted.

He explained everything—his father's threats, the forced move to study business in London, and the pressure to forget Ariana completely.

"But I never forgot you," he said softly.

Ariana laughed sadly.

"That doesn't change what happened."

"I know."

Arman looked directly into her eyes.

"I read your book."

Ariana froze.

"You recognized the story?"

"Every page," Arman said. "Because it was our story."

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Five years of pain stood between them.

Chapter 17: The Choice of the Heart

Later that night, Ariana walked alone through the quiet streets of Delhi.

Her mind was full of memories.

The first meeting in the library.

The laughter in the garden.

The painful silence when Arman disappeared.

She had spent years learning to live without him.

But seeing him again had awakened something she thought she had buried forever.

The next day Arman waited outside the festival hall.

When Ariana arrived, he stepped forward.

"I'm not asking you to forgive me immediately," he said. "But I want another chance."

Ariana looked at him for a long moment.

"Love is not easy," she said.

"I know."

"And trust is even harder."

"I know that too."

Arman's voice became softer.

"But if there's even a small chance that we can start again… I'm willing to spend the rest of my life proving I deserve it."

Ariana felt her heart beating faster.

After everything that had happened…

After all the pain and memories…

She had one final choice to make.

Should she close the door on the past forever—

Or open her heart to love once again?

And for the first time in five years…

Ariana smiled.

Their story was not just about loss.

It was about second chances.
