Chapter 3 – First Power Unleashed
Kai stood alone on the empty road, his heart still pounding.
The three assassins he had fought earlier were gone—or maybe unconscious somewhere in the shadows. He wasn't sure. All he knew was the strange power inside him was growing… and it scared him.

A chill ran down Kai's spine as glowing text appeared again.
[Host ability acquired: Shadow Energy.]
[Effect: Can manipulate shadows into physical forms. Beginner level unlocked.]
Kai flexed his fingers. At first, nothing happened. Then a small black mist rose from the ground, swirling around his hand.
"What…?" he whispered.
The mist twisted and shaped itself into a small, jagged blade. He lifted it carefully. The shadows hardened into solid form, heavier than they looked.
Kai's eyes gleamed red. A strange thrill ran through him.
"This… is power," he muttered.
Suddenly, movement caught his attention. Another figure emerged from the trees.
A girl? No… a young man, dressed in dark robes, his face hidden.
"You're the one expelled from the academy?" the figure asked, voice calm but dangerous.
Kai tensed. "Who are you?"
The figure laughed softly. "Call me an observer. I've been watching you. That little display just now… impressive for someone so weak."
Kai narrowed his eyes. "Why are you here?"
"Curiosity," the stranger said, stepping closer. "And… opportunity."
Kai felt a sudden wave of warning. The energy inside him surged again—Shadow Energy reacting to the presence of a potential threat.
Before he could speak, the stranger's hand shot out, and a dark whip of energy formed from thin air.
Kai reacted instinctively. Shadows rose from the ground like snakes, wrapping around the whip and stopping it midair.
The stranger froze, staring at Kai with interest.
"Hmm… so the system has chosen you," the stranger muttered. "Interesting."
Kai's eyes glowed brighter. "System?"
The glowing red text appeared again.

Kai clenched his fists. He had no idea who this stranger was—or why he seemed so powerful—but he knew one thing:
From this moment on, the world outside the academy was dangerous. And Kai wasn't the weak student they had expelled anymore.
A shadow blade appeared in his hand.
Kai smiled. A cold, dangerous smile.
"Then let's see how dangerous I can be."
