Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Secret System

The night was quiet, save for the occasional patter of rain against the tin roof of Aren's small, dilapidated home.

The slums were largely deserted after sunset. Shadows from flickering lanterns stretched along the narrow alleyways, creating shapes that seemed to move when they were not supposed to.

Aren entered his house, soaked and shivering, his muscles still trembling from the battle. He hung the metal pipe on a hook and sank onto the worn wooden floor, lighting a single candle.

The system appeared before him once again, floating in a holographic blue light. Its presence was comforting and alien at the same time.

Hidden Sovereign System

Name: Aren Vale

Level: 2

Title: Dormant Sovereign

Aren stared at the words, trying to process them. "Dormant…

Sovereign?" he muttered, tracing the letters in the air with his eyes.

He had never heard of anything like it. Sovereigns… rulers of power in ancient times? It sounded like a legend, a story for children. Yet here it was, displayed with absolute certainty by the system.

Another message appeared:

Host must grow stronger to unlock more information.

"So… everything depends on leveling up," Aren whispered to himself. "Every fight… every monster… every mission…"

The thought was both terrifying and thrilling. More monsters meant more danger, but more danger meant more strength.

He leaned back against the wall, staring at his hands as if seeing them for the first time. Just yesterday, they had been weak, clumsy, worthless. Today, they could kill creatures far stronger than himself, creatures that even trained hunters avoided.

He remembered the laughter, the mocking faces at Aldoria Academy, the sneers of Silver Rank students who thought him incapable of anything. That memory ignited something inside him, a spark of determination that flared brighter than any fear.

"They won't laugh forever," he said, clenching his fists. "I'll show them… I'll show everyone."

Outside, the city lights flickered in the distance, blurred by the pouring rain. Somewhere out there were more monsters, more missions, and more answers. And Aren felt it deep in his chest: he was no longer just a powerless boy from the slums. He was becoming something more.

Aren leaned back, exhaustion threatening to pull him under, but he didn't feel afraid. Not anymore. He had tasted power. He had felt the system's touch, and he knew now that his life was no longer limited to mere survival. The path forward was dangerous, but for the first time, he was ready to walk it.
