Chapter 6: Reflections of Mistakes"
After a while, the door opened softly. Hinata's mother, Nira Robertson, stepped into the room. Hinata was sitting on the edge of the bed, crying. Nira paused for a moment and then spoke gently,
"Your father is crying outside too—because he raised his hand at you. And here you are, crying as well."
Hinata wiped her tears but said nothing. Nira continued, her voice calm yet firm,
"You know, you and Wang are both very much like your fathers. Wang is like his father, Obito—and you are like your father, Jim."
Hinata looked up. "How?"
Nira explained quietly,
"Here you are crying, and there your father is crying. After making a mistake, you both start crying—but neither of you has the courage to ask for forgiveness. On the other side, Wang and his father made the same kind of mistake. They even look alike, and both of them lose their temper very quickly."
Silence filled the room. Then Nira asked,
"Now tell me—how long have you and Wang been together?"
Hinata took a deep breath.
"We've been together since we were six years old. Over time, we fell in love. We always respected our limits. One night, we went out with friends. We didn't know our drinks had been changed. We lost our clarity, made the wrong choices. Instead of taking us home, they left us in a hotel room. Before that night, we had never crossed that line—it was our first mistake."
A faint smile appeared on Nira's lips, though her eyes remained serious.
"Do you know—I was right. Wang and his father are alike."
Hinata frowned in confusion. "What do you mean? I know Wang looks like his father, but what are you really saying?"
Nira turned toward the window and replied,
"They're not only alike in appearance—they repeat the same mistakes."
Hinata hesitated, then asked softly,
"What mistake did Wang's father make?"
Nira looked back at her daughter, her voice carrying the weight of truth.
"The same one you and Wang made—at the same age. The difference is that back then, no one faced the truth."
She reached out and held Hinata's hand.
"Mistakes are human. But crying alone doesn't lighten their weight. Accepting the truth and finding the courage to ask for forgiveness does. If you can do that, perhaps you'll break the cycle that's been repeating for generations."
Hinata nodded slowly. Her tears had stopped. In her eyes now lived fear—but also a quiet determination to stand by the truth.
