"Gravity Well!"

Ash quickly cast the Tier 5 Gravity spell he had created.

A powerful gravitational force descended upon the puma-like beast and the giant bear.

Boom!

The ground beneath them collapsed as their bodies were forced downward, sinking knee-deep into the earth. The sudden pressure stopped their charge completely.

Ash didn't waste the opportunity.

He immediately rushed forward, grabbed his four teammates one after another, and used Air Magic to propel himself away from the battlefield.

Within moments, the group had disappeared into the forest.

A few seconds later, the bushes rustled.

The Scorpicore stepped out of the trees and looked at the two trapped beasts.

With a casual wave of one massive claw, the Gravity Well shattered, releasing both of them from the spell.

The crow also flew down, landing beside the Scorpicore.

"I'm sorry, Boss," the crow said, lowering its head. "That kid is really powerful."

The Scorpicore nodded.

"You were lucky."

She looked at the crow with a serious expression.

"If that human had intended to kill you, you would already be dead."

"He wasn't fighting to kill."

"He was simply trying to restrain you."

The crow nodded in agreement.

During their battle, it had clearly realized that Ash had several opportunities to finish it off, yet every attack had been aimed at disabling or trapping it rather than dealing a fatal blow.

"Should we chase them?" the bear asked while climbing out of the crater left by the Gravity Well.

The Scorpicore slowly shook her head.

"There's no need."

"They're only cubs taking part in their yearly trial."

She turned her gaze toward the direction Ash had fled.

"Besides..."

A faint smile appeared on her beastly face.

"That boy is far more interesting than the others."

"For now, let them go."

"We'll have plenty of chances to play with them during the rest of the week."

Meanwhile, Ash carried his teammates away from the battlefield.

After traveling for several minutes, he arrived at the side of a mountain.

His eyes quickly scanned the rocky cliff before he raised a hand.

Using Earth Magic, he carved out a spacious cave within the mountainside. He then reinforced the walls, ceiling, and floor with more Earth Magic, strengthening the entire structure so it wouldn't collapse even during a battle.

Only after making sure the cave was stable did he lead the others inside.

The four students were still catching their breath when Ash turned around and glared at them.

"What are you all doing?" he asked coldly.

All four lowered their heads in shame.

Ash pointed at the Warden first.

"You."

"You're a Warden."

"Your first job should have been to set up the necessary arrays to support the team and limit the beasts' movements."

The boy lowered his head even further.

Ash then looked at the Magic Knight and War Mage.

"And you two."

"You are Magic Knight and War Mage"

"You should have been protecting the backline while creating opportunities for the Warden to cast spells safely."

Finally, his gaze landed on the Battle Mage.

"And you."

"What the hell were you doing?"

"You didn't even cast a single Tier One spell."

"You stood there throwing mana blasts like a first-year student."

The Battle Mage could only bite his lip in embarrassment.

Ash let out a long sigh.

"You've all spent four years in this academy."

"Was this really the best you could do?"

Silence filled the cave.

After a long pause, one of the noble girls, who was also one of the team's Magic Knights, timidly raised her hand.

"But..."

"They were so scary."

Ash's eye twitched.

For a brief moment, he seriously considered smacking some common sense into her.

Instead, he took a deep breath and rubbed his forehead in frustration.

Woman...

What did you think magical beasts were? Cute little kittens?

He kept those thoughts to himself.

The last thing he wanted was to completely crush what little confidence they still had.

Instead, he sighed once more.

"They're supposed to be scary."

"That's why they're called magical beasts."

"If you're afraid before the fight even begins, you've already lost."

The four students remained silent, unable to argue with a single word he had said.

The four students remained silent, unable to argue with a single word he had said.

Ash looked at each of them before speaking again.

"Fine. Complaining about what already happened won't help us. We still have an entire week left."

He sat down on a large rock inside the cave.

"First, introduce yourselves properly. Tell me your name and specialization"

After a few moments of silence, the young Warden stepped forward.

"My name is Ethan Valcrest."

He hesitated for a second before extending his hand toward Ash.

Unlike before, Ash accepted the handshake. It was brief, but at least it showed he was willing to listen.

Ethan let out a small sigh of relief.

"I'm a Warden. My job isn't just to defend people. We shape the battlefield."

He pointed toward the cave entrance.

"We create defensive formations, reinforce structures, slow down enemies, and prepare the terrain before a fight begins. During wars, Wardens build temporary fortresses and protect entire battalions. In peaceful times, we help construct roads, walls, bridges, and other large projects."

Without waiting for a reply, Ethan walked over to one side of the cave.

He placed both palms against the rocky wall and activated two spells in succession.

A faint yellow light spread through the stone.

The loose rocks fused together while several hidden cracks disappeared. The uneven ceiling also became smoother as the cave grew noticeably sturdier.

"I reinforced the weak points," Ethan explained. "Even if a magical beast attacks from outside, this cave shouldn't collapse easily."

Ash silently examined the mana flowing through the walls.

The spell itself was well executed.

Unfortunately...

A Warden who couldn't prepare even a single defensive array before three magical beasts reached us...

His priorities need serious work.

Still, Ash gave a small nod.

"Your spell control is decent."
