Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 : A Bomb in the Sky

Morning arrived quietly in Beika City.

But beneath the calm surface…

Events were beginning to move toward something far more dangerous.

The Police Station

Inside the office of Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, several officers gathered around a table.

Among them stood Inspector Megure.

A file rested on the table.

Inside was a photo.

A dead assassin.

The man Haruki had fought the night before.

Megure rubbed his chin.

"Cause of death?"

A forensic officer replied.

"Cyanide capsule."

Megure sighed.

"Professional criminal?"

The officer nodded.

"Most likely."

Megure flipped to the next page.

Witness statement.

A short boy with glasses.

Conan Edogawa.

Megure read aloud.

"The victim attacked a civilian… Haruki Akizawa… who defended himself."

Megure frowned.

"Again?"

This was the third report involving Haruki.

Megure leaned back.

"I want background checks."

The officer replied nervously.

"We already tried."

Megure raised an eyebrow.

"And?"

"Nothing suspicious."

Megure muttered.

"That's the suspicious part."

Conan's Investigation

Later that morning.

Conan walked toward Mouri Detective Agency.

His mind replayed the fight he saw last night.

Haruki moved like someone trained.

Fast.

Precise.

Efficient.

"That wasn't luck…"

"He knew exactly what he was doing."

Conan adjusted his glasses.

"Time to observe him closer."

Meanwhile — Haruki

Haruki walked calmly through a busy Tokyo street.

The city hummed with everyday life.

Cars.

Shops.

Tourists.

Nothing unusual.

But Haruki knew something was coming.

The timeline was approaching the events of the first major incident involving Conan.

The bomb case.

His memory recalled the event clearly.

It would begin soon.

Then—

Haruki closed the system window.

His abilities were becoming stronger.

But so were the threats around him.

Afternoon

Inside Teitan Elementary School.

The Detective Boys gathered again.

Genta Kojima spoke loudly.

"We need another case!"

Ayumi Yoshida smiled.

"Maybe we should help people again."

Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya nodded.

"Real detectives must help society."

Conan sighed quietly.

"I just want one peaceful day…"

But fate had other plans.

At that moment—

A police car rushed past the school.

Sirens blaring.

Conan's eyes sharpened.

"That timing…"

Something serious had happened.

The Threat

At the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, chaos filled the office.

Megure slammed a letter onto the desk.

"A bomb threat!"

One officer read aloud.

"The explosive device has been placed where the steel bird flies."

Megure frowned.

"What does that even mean?"

Conan, who had followed the officers inside, listened carefully.

"Steel bird…"

His mind raced.

Plane.

Aircraft.

Airport.

But which one?

At that moment—

Haruki quietly entered the police building.

He had expected this event.

The first major bomb case.

But something felt slightly different.

The timeline had already shifted.

Haruki read the letter from across the room.

Then—

Mission: Bomb in the Sky

Objective:

Prevent a large-scale explosion.

Location:

Tokyo Air Transit Route

Reward:

Advanced Skill — Strategic Foresight

Bonus Reward:

Rare System Item

Failure Condition:

Mass casualty event.

Haruki's eyes sharpened.

This was serious.

The bomb was likely on an aircraft.

Meaning time was extremely limited.

Meanwhile Conan was thinking the same thing.

"Steel bird… flying…"

Then Conan suddenly realized.

"An airplane!"

Megure blinked.

"What?"

Conan pointed at the letter.

"Steel bird means airplane!"

The room froze.

Megure shouted.

"Contact all airports immediately!"

Phones rang across the office.

Haruki activated the system.

[ LOGIC ACCELERATION ACTIVATED ]

His thoughts moved rapidly.

Variables.

Flight schedules.

Passenger aircraft.

Cargo planes.

Routes crossing Tokyo airspace.

Then—

The probability engine activated.

Suspect Routes:

Flight A — 24%

Flight B — 18%

Flight C — 41%

Flight D — 17%

Haruki focused on Flight C.

Highest probability.

But something bothered him.

A hidden variable.

He looked again at the message.

"Where the steel bird flies…"

Not inside the plane.

Along the flight route.

A bomb placed on the ground.

Waiting for a plane to pass overhead.

Haruki turned instantly.

"Check the airport observation tower."

The room went silent.

Megure blinked.

"Why?"

Haruki explained calmly.

"The bomb isn't on the aircraft."

"It's placed where the aircraft passes."

Conan's eyes widened.

"Exactly."

Two brilliant deductions reached the same conclusion.

Megure grabbed the phone.

"Send the bomb squad!"

Outside the Airport

Police cars arrived at the observation tower near the runway.

Bomb squad officers rushed inside.

Conan and Haruki arrived moments later.

A ticking sound echoed inside the tower.

The device sat beneath the metal platform.

Large.

Complex.

The timer showed:

03:12

Megure shouted.

"Can you disarm it?!"

The bomb technician looked nervous.

"It's not a standard design!"

Haruki stepped closer.

Observation Boost activated.

Wires.

Timer.

Pressure switch.

A secondary trigger connected to a radio receiver.

Then—

Haruki realized something.

This wasn't a simple bomb.

It was a test.

Someone was watching.

From far away.

Measuring responses.

The question was—

Who?

Across the city.

Inside a dark apartment.

A man watched a live video feed.

The bomb.

The police.

Haruki.

The man smiled faintly.

His voice was soft.

"Let's see how smart you really are."

Back at the tower—

The timer reached:

01:47

Conan whispered.

"Do you see the trigger?"

Haruki nodded slowly.

But the real danger wasn't the timer.

It was the remote detonator.

Someone could trigger it anytime.

Haruki cut one wire carefully.

The timer stopped.

But the bomb remained active.

Conan realized immediately.

"Remote trigger."

Then—

The device suddenly beeped again.

A new countdown began.

00:30

Megure shouted.

"RUN!"

But Haruki didn't move.

He stared directly at the transmitter chip.

Then removed a tiny component.

The signal receiver.

The bomb shut down instantly.

Silence filled the tower.

Then the technician gasped.

"It's disarmed!"

Megure wiped sweat from his forehead.

"Thank God…"

Conan looked at Haruki quietly.

"You figured out the real trigger."

Haruki stepped back.

Mission complete.

Across the city.

The mysterious observer closed the laptop.

He smiled slightly.

"Interesting."

The game had officially begun.

Meanwhile—

Far away.

Inside a dim black car.

Gin heard the news on the radio.

Bomb prevented.

Unknown civilian helped.

Gin smirked faintly.

"Haruki Akizawa…"

Vodka asked nervously.

"Should we move?"

Gin exhaled smoke slowly.

"No."

"Let the game continue."

Conan watched Haruki leave the tower.

His mind now certain.

This man wasn't just intelligent.

He was operating on the same level as Shinichi Kudo.

Maybe even higher.

And that made him…

Very dangerous.
