Orion stared at the report long after finishing it. Something about the story bothered him. Adrian Vale's name was familiar. The Beta's son had recently formed an alliance with several rival packs.
Including____
Blackthorn Pack.
Orion's eyes darkened.
That meant Hallia's exile might not have been a scandal at all.
Political removal.
If Adrian had truly believed Hallia was his mate, abandoning her so easily didn't make sense. Unless someone had forced the situation. Orion closed the folder firmly. His wolf spoke again.
" Protect her."
He stood and walked to the window overlooking the courtyard. Hallia crossed the yard below carrying fresh linens and flowers. She looked small compared to the towering wolves around her. Yet she kept walking calmly.
Unafraid.
" Hallia Delan," Orion murmured.
If the prophecy was real____
If she truly was the Human Luna____
Then her being here is a moved to attack his pack, she was used a political pawn.
Still being used___ if his hunched is correct.
Then many enemies would eventually come looking for her.
Orion's eyes hardened. Amarok growled.
Hackles raised.
Fangs bared.
"And they would have to go through us first."
And that is the second time they are tuned to the same conclusion.
