Chapter 1 - Chapter:1

This is where those students come—

Those who cannot hear their own voice.

Those who cannot understand themselves.

Those who sometimes see themselves as worthless… and other times believe they are the center of the world.

Those who do not follow rules.

Those who do not understand respect.

Those who try to escape the darkness inside them.

This university exists for them.

Maybe one day you too will arrive at a place where everything seems normal.

People walking.

People talking.

People laughing.

But deep inside… you will feel it—

Something is wrong.

There are places in this world

that were never meant for humans.

And yet, humans still go there.

For only one reason.

To find themselves.

No one knows where this university exists in the world.

A strange university.

A place where people do not come to study history, science, or mathematics.

They come here searching for the answer to one question—

"Who am I?"

But this place has a rule.

The moment you pass through the university gate…

Your past disappears.

Your memories fade.

And only one question will remain in your mind—

Who am I?

And that is where this story begins.

---

Cold air struck Althea's face.

She slowly opened her eyes.

Everything was blurry.

Her head felt heavy.

When she sat up, she realized she was sitting on a stone road.

In front of her stood a massive iron gate.

Beyond it lay a vast campus, swallowed by darkness.

Old buildings.

Black towers.

And a strange silence.

Under the cloud-covered sky, the place almost felt alive.

Above the gate hung a metal signboard.

But something strange happened.

At first, the signboard was empty.

Then slowly, letters began to appear.

One by one.

As if an invisible hand was writing them.

Finally, the full sentence formed.

WELCOME, ALTHEA.

Althea's heart skipped a beat.

"How… does it know my name?"

She quickly stood up.

She didn't understand what was happening to her.

She tried to remember something.

Her home.

Her family.

Her past.

But no matter how hard she tried—

Everything was darkness.

There was nothing in her memory.

Only one thing she knew.

Her name.

Althea.

Just then, she heard footsteps behind her.

She turned around.

Several students were walking through the gate.

They all wore the same dark uniforms.

But their faces were strange.

Not happy.

Not sad.

Just a deep, empty expression.

As if they had forgotten something important.

One girl walking past Althea suddenly stopped.

For a brief moment, their eyes met.

The girl whispered softly—

"Don't trust the mirrors."

Then she disappeared into the crowd.

Althea stood there, stunned.

"What?"

She tried to find the girl again.

But she was already gone.

At that moment—

The gate slowly opened by itself.

Without anyone touching it.

From somewhere unseen, a deep voice echoed.

"New students…"

"Enter quickly. This university does not like delays."

The voice was cold.

Almost mechanical.

Everyone slowly began walking inside.

Althea hesitated.

Something inside her was warning—

Don't go in.

But another voice inside her whispered—

The answers are there.

She slowly walked toward the gate.

And the moment she stepped through—

A sharp sound echoed inside her head.

Suddenly, a vision flashed before her eyes.

A dark corridor.

A broken mirror.

And someone whispering her name—

"Althea…"

Then everything went dark again.

She gasped in fear.

"What… was that?"

At that moment, a tall boy was standing beside her.

She hadn't even noticed when he arrived.

The boy said,

"You saw something too, didn't you?"

Althea looked at him, startled.

"Who are you?"

The boy shrugged.

"Someone like you."

"A lost person."

He looked toward the campus.

"This place does that to people."

"Where is this place?" Althea asked.

The boy pointed toward a massive building in the distance.

"That…"

"Is Hinaharap University."

"A university where people come to make their future beautiful and orderly."

He paused for a moment.

His eyes suddenly turned serious.

"But if they stay here too long…"

"They can never remember who they used to be."

A chill ran down Althea's spine.

"Then why are we here?"

The boy smiled faintly.

"Because this place chooses people."

Suddenly, a heavy bell rang in the distance.

BOOM…

BOOM…

BOOM…

Everyone stopped walking.

The boy looked at Althea.

"Class has started."

Althea frowned.

"Class?"

The boy leaned closer and whispered—

"But they don't teach subjects here."

"They conduct tests."

"What kind of test?"

The boy's smile disappeared.

"The test of who you really are."

Althea looked toward the dark building in the distance.

For some reason, it felt like the building was watching her.

Waiting.

As if it knew something about Althea that even she didn't know.

The boy started walking.

Althea quickly called out—

"Wait!"

"If someone fails the test… what happens?"

The boy stopped.

He stayed silent for a moment.

Then quietly said—

"They disappear."

Althea's heartbeat quickened.

"Where?"

The boy looked toward a distant tower.

A tower.

With no windows.

"No one knows."

"Because anyone who goes there…"

"Never comes back."

The bell rang again.

Students began entering the building.

Althea remained standing there.

Her mind was filled with questions.

Why was she here?

Why couldn't she remember her past?

And who were these people really—were they even human?

And why had she seen that strange vision of the broken mirror?

She looked around, trying to understand.

If the answers existed anywhere—

They were here.

Inside Hinaharap University.

But she didn't know yet…

This place was not just a university.

It was a labyrinth.

A labyrinth where every student had a mission—

To find themselves.

But sometimes…

The truth about who you are

is the most terrifying thing of all.
