Chapter 362: The Narrowing Window
A rider came in from the west on the morning of the twelfth day, not a courier this time but one of the Director's own messengers, marked by the plain grey cord around his wrist that Guild riders wore on official business. He didn't stop at Edra's fire first. He came straight to Kai's.
"Letter for you," he said, holding it out before he'd even caught his breath. "And one for her." He nodded across the gap at Edra's camp. "Same letter, near enough. The Director wanted both sides to read the same words."
Kai broke the seal at the markers, where Soren and Mira were already waiting.
