Chapter 100 - Chapter 99: Operation: Couples

Leaving the battlefield on Little Orange Island where they had parted ways with Lorelei, Ash and his friends arrived at another bustling city on the island Trovitopolis. The city was steeped in a romantic island atmosphere;

tropical flowers bloomed in abundance along the streets, and the air was filled with a delicate floral fragrance mixed with the salty tang of the sea breeze.

As they strolled down the street, a young girl with short brown hair anxiously stopped them. In her arms, she cradled a dejected-looking Nidoran♀.

"Excuse me, have you seen a Nidoran♂? My Nidoran♀... she seems to have something on her mind. She's been listless all day." The girl's name was Emily, and she stroked her Pokémon worriedly.

Ash's Aura allowed him to keenly perceive the emotions of longing and sadness radiating from the Nidoran♀. Just as he was about to speak, a boy wearing a hat ran toward them from the opposite direction, panting for breath.

"Hello! Have you seen a Nidoran♀? I don't know what's wrong with my Nidoran♂, but he keeps staring in this direction and has no energy for training."

The boy was named Ralph, and he was accompanied by a Nidoran♂ who appeared equally agitated.

In a strange twist of fate, the moment Ralph's Nidoran♂ spotted the Nidoran♀ in Emily's arms, his eyes lit up instantly, and he let out a joyful cry.

The Nidoran♀ leaped from Emily's arms and ran quickly to the Nidoran♂'s side. The two Pokémon intimately rubbed their cheeks together, chirping happily. Anyone could see the deep affection they shared.

However, the harmony between the Pokémon stood in stark contrast to the attitude of their Trainers.

"So it was your Nidoran♂!" Emily shouted, hands on her hips as she glared at Ralph. "Did you order him to harass my Nidoran♀?"

"What are you talking about?" Ralph fired back, refusing to back down. "Clearly, your Nidoran♀ seduced my Nidoran♂! He can't even focus on his training anymore!"

"What?! How can you be so unreasonable?"

"You're the one being unreasonable!"

The two Trainers began to argue incessantly in the middle of the street. Beneath them, Nidoran♂ and Nidoran♀ looked up at their respective masters, then back at each other, their eyes filled with confusion and sorrow.

"Oh dear, how did it end up like this..." Misty watched the poor Nidoran couple being forced apart, and then looked at the two Trainers arguing until they were red in the face. As a young girl,

her own heart was touched by the sight of such a beautiful romance being thwarted. "They clearly love each other. Why are their Trainers trying to stop them? This is too cruel!"

She turned to Ash and Tracey, her eyes flashing with determination. "We can't just ignore this! We have to find a way to make Emily and Ralph reconcile so Nidoran♂ and Nidoran♀ can be together!"

Tracey adjusted his hat, looking a bit hesitant. "But... their conflict seems quite deep. As outsiders, it might be hard for us to intervene."

Ash looked at the passion and resolve in Misty's eyes, and then at the pair of Nidoran huddling together and shivering because of their masters' shouting. He felt a stir in his heart.

Misty's pure desire to see something beautiful flourish warmed him. He recalled the bonds he shared with his own Pokémon and knew how precious such genuine feelings were.

"Misty is right," Ash said, his voice steady and carrying a reassuring strength. "Since we've run into them, we can't just stand by. Forcing them to talk probably won't work, so we need a plan to make them realize the problem themselves."

Misty looked at Ash in surprise. "Ash, you're willing to help?"

"Yeah." Ash nodded, a wise smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "I have an idea, but I'll need everyone to cooperate."

Ash pulled Misty and Tracey aside and whispered his plan. He was a keen observer and had already picked up on several details from the argument and their attireEmily's gardening gloves and Ralph's athletic knee pads.

"Emily seems to love flowers, and Ralph is a man focused on training. We can do this..." Ash detailed his layout, considering every step based on their personalities and likely reactions.

As Misty and Tracey listened to Ash's meticulous plan, their eyes filled with admiration. Misty felt a flutter in her chest as she watched Ash's profile while he seriously analyzed the situation. He radiated a calm and wisdom that was different from his usual intensity in battle, and it was deeply comforting.

The plan was put into action.

First, Tracey stepped forward in his capacity as a Pokémon Watcher. He found Emily and Ralph separately and cleverly told them that he had seen the Pokémon they were looking for in the "Lover's Garden" (a name Ash had made up on the spot) on the west side of town. He hinted that the environment there was beautiful and perfect for Pokémon to relax.

Meanwhile, Misty took Nidoran♂ and Nidoran♀ to the small garden in advance. It was a place surrounded by fresh flowers with an exquisite fountain at the center. She stayed there, patiently comforting them.

Ash was in charge of overall control. He used his Aura to sense the movements of the two Trainers from a distance, coordinating Misty and Tracey via walkie-talkies.

Though Emily and Ralph were skeptical, their concern for their Pokémon brought them to the garden one after the other. They immediately saw Nidoran♂ and Nidoran♀ snuggling together among the flowers. Under the glow of the setting sun and the backdrop of the blossoms, the scene looked like a fairytale.

Subconsciously, the two were about to rush forward to separate them. But at that exact moment, Misty, acting on Ash's signal, had Togepi use Metronome. By a stroke of luck, it pulled a Petal Dance.

A flurry of pink petals drifted down like snow, falling gently over the two Nidoran, Emily, and Ralph. Both Trainers froze, stunned by the sudden romantic sight.

Immediately after, Tracey appeared, disguised as an "Old Scholar." In a weathered, gravelly voice, he said, "Young Trainers, look at your Pokémon. The happiness in their eyes is so real.

The bond between Trainer and Pokémon isn't just about getting stronger; it's about understanding and respecting their hearts. Forcibly tearing apart two souls that are drawn to each other will only bring misfortune..."

These words, combined with the dancing petals and the sight of the two Pokémon leaning on each other, deeply touched Emily and Ralph. They saw how happy and content their Pokémon were in that brilliant rain of flowers, and they remembered how miserable they had been lately while apart. Their resolve began to waver.

Ash saw the perfect moment. Through hidden speakers he had set up, he played a soft, heartwarming melody, pushing the atmosphere to its peak.

Emily's eyes grew misty. She whispered to Ralph, "Maybe... maybe we really were wrong. Nidoran♀ hasn't been this happy in a long time."

Ralph let go of his stubbornness and sighed. "My Nidoran♂ too... he was always distracted during training. It turns out he was just missing your Nidoran♀."

The hostility between them faded, replaced by a touch of awkwardness and self-reflection.

Only then did Ash, Misty, and Tracey "coincidentally" appear.

Ash looked at the pair and smiled. "See? They look so good together. A Trainer's duty is to guide and accompany their Pokémon, not to forcibly control their emotions. Isn't making them happy a Trainer's greatest achievement?"

Emily and Ralph looked at each other and finally broke into relieved smiles.

"I'm sorry. I had a bad attitude before," Emily apologized first.

"I was at fault too. I was too stubborn," Ralph said, scratching his head sheepishly.

They walked toward each other, and toward their Pokémon. Seeing their masters reconcile, Nidoran♂ and Nidoran♀ barked happily and nuzzled their respective Trainers.

Watching the happy ending, Misty breathed a long sigh of relief, a sweet smile spreading across her face. She turned to look at Ash. The golden light of the setting sun bathed him, outlining his clear and confident features.

Thinking of his brilliant plan, his delicate understanding of people's hearts, and his gentleness in bringing beauty to life, Misty felt her heart skip a beat. Her cheeks grew slightly warm. A hazy, sweet emotion, like a budding vine, quietly began to spread through her heart.

"Ash... thank you," Misty said softly, her voice carrying a trace of shyness she couldn't quite hide.

Ash turned back, meeting Misty's sparkling eyes. He laughed brightly. "Don't mention it. I'm just glad we could help them."

He didn't notice the subtle change in Misty's emotions, but his smile was like sunshine, warming her heart.

The evening breeze in Trovitopolis, carrying the scent of flowers and the sea, seemed to have grown even gentler. The happiness of Nidoran♂ and Nidoran♀, along with the budding stirrings in the hearts of the young boy and girl, remained in that beautiful twilight.
