Chapter 127 - Chapter 127: My Very Own Avengers

After a long silence, Captain America finally gave an affirmative answer:

"Perhaps Director Nick's starting point was good, but there are certain aspects of his style and conduct that I truly cannot agree with."

Hearing this, Peter smiled with satisfaction.

He reached out and patted Captain America's shoulder, then pulled him over to sit down beside him.

"Then do you think I would do a worse job as Director than him?"

Captain America looked at Peter's very young face, which was filled with confidence, and after a moment, he gently shook his head.

In his perception, although Peter's way of doing things was a bit unconventional and his personality was far from being a "gentleman," he was not an evil person.

"Then that settles it."

Peter spread his hands and asked Captain America back in a puzzled tone:

"You don't agree with Nick Fury's methods."

"At the same time, it's impossible for me to do a worse job than Nick Fury..."

"Since that's the case, what are you still hesitating about?"

Captain America opened his mouth, vaguely feeling that something wasn't quite right, but when the words reached his lips, he didn't know where to start.

In the end, he could only mumble, "Perhaps you're right," while secretly thinking to himself:

It's better to wait until Peter's emotions are more stable before having a proper talk with him about Nick Fury.

Seeing his preoccupied appearance, Peter couldn't help but sneer inwardly.

Captain, oh Captain, I'd like to see if you'll still speak up for that Nick Fury when I personally dig out a large number of HYDRA Agents from within S.H.I.E.L.D.

Peter intended to disrupt the Captain's train of thought and, in passing, fully tie Tony to his warship, so he immediately followed up by saying:

"Speaking of which, as I'm newly appointed, I have to achieve some results no matter what."

"So, I'm planning to start a big project to gather talented people and establish an official hero organization specifically to handle special situations like tonight."

"I'm planning to name this department... the Avengers!"

If Nick Fury were on the scene right now, he would definitely be hopping mad on the spot:

You bastard, those are all my lines!

Tony glanced at the still-sleeping Banner, then spoke with a solemn face:

"If it were before tonight, I would have said you were overthinking it, Peter."

"But now, I can only say I agree with both hands and both feet."

"The World has completely spiraled out of control. To maintain the peace of this country, we must possess enough power to face all unknown matters."

As soon as Tony finished speaking, Captain America also nodded in agreement:

"If there's a place for me, just say the word. Although my strength isn't great, I think my past experience on the battlefield might be of help."

Peter was waiting for these words from the two of them, so he unceremoniously made the decision:

"Very well, since that's the case, I'll shamelessly take on the role of Captain of the Avengers."

"And Tony, you and the Captain will serve as Technical Advisor and Strategic Advisor respectively!"

To this, neither of them had any objection.

And Peter, looking at the Captain and Tony, who were not familiar with each other but were trying hard to get closer for the sake of working together happily in the future, couldn't help but have a smile appear on his face.

An important reason why the Civil War plot occurred in the original movies was that the Avengers were not a monolithic entity.

It could even be said that they were completely divided into two factions: the Captain America faction and the Tony faction.

This led to them splitting apart internally as soon as external pressure descended.

But now, Peter held all the power himself, acting as the glue for the entire team by his own strength, so naturally, there was no need to worry about similar situations happening in the future.

Even if the outside World could come up with something like the Sokovia Accords, Peter was confident he could easily resolve the crisis relying on the team's unity and his own fists... The aircraft, enhanced by the wheel of destiny, was extremely fast.

Just as Peter had finalized the Avengers matters with Captain America and Tony, the aircraft arrived at the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters in Washington.

As soon as the aircraft landed, Peter saw three familiar faces:

Phil Coulson, Maria Hill, and Natasha Romanoff.

The three of them had already learned through internal channels about everything that happened in Brooklyn and the President's appointment.

Therefore, the looks the three of them gave Peter at this moment were full of shock, wariness, and an unshieldable bewilderment.

"Long time no see, Agent Phil, Agent Maria, and... Agent Natasha." Peter greeted Coulson with a smile.

"Long time no see, Peter... Sir." Coulson first subconsciously smiled back, then realized Peter was already the Director and quickly stood at attention, responding with a standard Agent's posture.

Hill and Natasha behind him also nodded slightly, showing their respect to Peter.

Peter's gaze swept over the three of them, and then he announced straight to the point:

"From today on, I am taking over S.H.I.E.L.D."

"I will make the following deployments."

"First, the New York branch is promoted to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, and I will be in full charge."

"As for Washington, Agent Phil, you will be in charge here. Along with that, starting today, you are the Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D."

"Huh?!" Coulson's mouth instantly formed an 'O' shape.

Happiness came too suddenly, everyone! Who understands this kind of sense of redemption, waking up to suddenly become Deputy Director!

Peter didn't pay much attention to the shocked Coulson, but instead turned to look at Hill, his eyes carrying a bit of scrutiny and appreciation.

Hill's temperament and appearance were basically similar to the movie Universe, but her beauty was even more outstanding, with a very cool and elegant female executive vibe.

One couldn't help but imagine her wearing red-soled high heels, crossing her legs clad in gartered black silk stockings, and looking down at you with a gaze reserved for trash... "Agent Maria, from now on, you will serve as my Chief Secretary, primarily responsible for reporting to me all matters that Deputy Director Phil cannot handle."

"Understood, Sir." Hill's answer was crisp and clear, but her heart was far from as calm as her surface.

This was undoubtedly a huge step forward, but she wasn't sure if this young man who appeared out of nowhere would be a better leader than Nick Fury.

Compared to Hill's complex thoughts, Natasha's expression was even more subtle.

She had originally thought the position of Peter's personal secretary should be hers, but she didn't expect it to be given to Hill.

But on second thought, it made sense. She was, after all, only a Level 7 Agent, still some distance away from being a Level 8 Agent who held core intelligence.

Just as she was thinking this in her heart, Peter called out her name:

"Agent Natasha."

"Sir." Black Widow took a step forward.

"From now on, you will take over Agent Phil's duties, being responsible for serving by my side and coordinating the work arrangements of all Agents."

A strange look flashed across Natasha's face, and then she nodded obediently: "Understood."

"Alright, that's all I have to say."

"Next, Phil, you're responsible for taking Tony to familiarize himself with the S.H.I.E.L.D. environment. Captain, I'll leave it to you to settle in Ms. Betty and Dr. Banner, and then talk to Agent Natasha and Agent Barton about the Avengers. As for Secretary Hill, follow me."

As for Secretary Hill, you follow me.

Peter only came to S.H.I.E.L.D. to do three things: fairness, fairness, and damn it, fairness.

Coulson and Black Widow had already enjoyed the healing benefits of the horse talisman before. Peter intended to take this time to give Hill her "benefits" as well.

Along the way, he also needed her help to open Nick Fury's layers of encrypted core intelligence databases...
