I tried to stay away after that.
Ignored her messages.Took different routes home.
But she found me anyway.
"Did I do something wrong?" she asked.
Her voice… it hurt more than the future.
I shook my head. "No."
"Then why are you avoiding me?"
Because you'll forget me.Because I'll become nothing to you.Because loving you is a countdown to heartbreak.
But I couldn't say any of that.
So instead…
"I'm just busy."
She looked at me for a long time.
Then smiled.
"Liar."
And for some reason…
I smiled too.
