Chapter 6 - Bargain Struck

Jace kept his voice steady.

"The Spectator pathway.

Sequence 9 is Spectator—core ability is reading emotions and surface thoughts through eye contact or proximity.

Sequence 8 is Telepathic—enhanced analysis, spotting lies and hidden intentions with greater precision.

Sequence 7 is Psychiatrist—direct manipulation of emotions, planting suggestions or calming madness in others."

Eye of Wisdom gave a small nod.

"As for the Demoness pathway," Jace continued.

"Sequence 9 is Assassin—stealth, poison mastery, and enhanced agility.

Sequence 8 is Instigator—stirring desires and conflicts, turning people against each other subtly.

"Sequence 7 is Witch."

He cleared his throat again, a little louder this time.

"If a male consumes the Sequence 7 potion… he will become female. The transformation is complete and permanent. Abilities include powerful curses, seduction that borders on compulsion, and the capacity to perform divinations , they also use ice in combat , twisted ways—misfortune, accidents, heartbreak."

Eye of Wisdom listened without interrupting. When Jace finished, the man exhaled a thin stream of smoke.

"Hmm. I'm satisfied with the payment."

He raised a hand. An attendant—hooded, silent—appeared from the shadows, took the box, and left the room briefly.

The attendant returned moments later and placed the same small rectangular box in front of Jace.

Eye of Wisdom gestured. "Open it."

Jace lifted the lid. Inside lay a pair of rimless glasses with thin black arms—simple, unremarkable, but the lenses caught the gaslight with a faint, almost imperceptible shimmer.

"The transaction is completed," Eye of Wisdom said. "The gathering will begin in five minutes."

He rose smoothly and left the table without another word.

Jace slipped the glasses on under his mask. The world didn't shift visually, but when he closed his eyes and deliberately thought of the novel pages he'd read years ago, the memories rose sharper—chapter titles, exact phrasing, scattered details.

Most importantly, the Seer Sequence 9 potion formula crystallized in his mind.

**Seer Sequence 9 Potion Formula**

**Main ingredients:**

- 50 grams of Stellar Aqua crystal

- 10 milliliters of Lavos Squid blood (fresh preferred)

**Supplementary ingredients:**

- 100 ml pure water

- 13 drops of night vanilla liquid

- 7 gold mint leaves

- 3 drops of poison hemlock

- 9 grams dragon blood grass powder

He removed the glasses carefully after a short test—no side effects yet—and tucked them away.

The gathering began shortly after.

Jace found a seat near the back wall, blending into the shadows as best he could under the cloak. The room filled slowly with cloaked figures. Trades started in low voices: sealed artifacts, rumors of recent incidents, requests for protection.

One man asked for the Sequence 9 Lawyer formula. Another requested Hunter Sequence 9.

Jace listened carefully. When the floor opened for offers, he spoke quietly, voice muffled by the mask.

"I have both. Lawyer Sequence 9 and Hunter Sequence 9 formulas. 320 pounds each."

No one questioned the price—knowledge was expensive here. Two buyers stepped forward separately. Money changed hands discreetly under the table. 640 pounds heavier in his pocket.

With the cash, Jace turned to the same buyers and others who had ingredients to sell.

He bought the Stellar Aqua crystal (50 grams) from one trader and a sealed vial of Lavos Squid blood (10 ml) from another—260 pounds total, leaving him with a small surplus.

The supplementary ingredients he didn't find at the gathering, but he knew where to look.

When the session ended, returned the cloak and mask to Kaspars at the door.

And asked him where he could buy a gun,

Kasper smiled and led him to another room where he sold him the gun and and 20 bullets.

Jace continued ask kasper questions and kasper answer, before leaving he left a generous tip for kasper.

Outside, the night air was cold and sharp. He stopped at a quiet apothecary on the way back to Cherwood Borough—one that stayed open late for "researchers."

He bought night vanilla extract, gold mint leaves, a tiny sealed bottle of poison hemlock drops, and dragon blood grass powder.

Pure water he could handle at home.

By the time he reached Crimson Lane, the apartment was dark and silent. He locked the door, lit the gas lamp, and laid everything out on the table.

The crystals glittered faintly. The squid blood shifted darkly in its vial. Herbs and liquids waited in neat rows.

He had it all.

Tonight, he would brew.
