Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

Ethan's pov

"Colton, why don't you get us some drinks?" I said through gritted teeth as I watched the fool gape at my mate.

"Colton?" I called out in my alpha voice. He quickly straightend his posture and looked at me.

"Yes Alph.... I mean Ethan." He babbled.

"I said go fetch us some drinks whilst I have a word the young lady."

"Oh sure" He replied walking away leaving me alone with my mate.

"Would you like to have a seat?" I asked motioning towards the booth.

"Sure." She shrugged giving me a small smile.

I quickly drew out a chair for her. She mumbled a thanks and plopped down.

I took the seat across her and just then Colton appeared with the drinks. He ordered a beer for my mate and a bottle of bourbon for me.

"Are you not going to join us?" She asked looking at Colton with a raised brow.

He peered at me before answering her. A smirk played on his lips. "Of course I am." He grinned sitting beside me.

"What the fuck is your problem? I need sometime alone with her." I growled in the mindlink.

"Why? So you could feast on her blood?" He remarked.

I haven't yet told him what she is to me although I thought he would've known by now. He's such a dumbass.

"I would never! She's my mate." I claimed.

He needed to know she's my mate there's no use hiding it.

He stared at me with wide eyes.

"Why the fuck didn't you tell me?"

"I thought you knew. Anyway try to make an excuse to leave. I want to be alone with her." I said and quickly cut off the link between us.

Colton cleared his throat rising from the chair and glancing at his wristwatch. "I completely forgot, my wife is going to kill me." He huffed.

"I promised I'd be home earlier tonight to help with the kids."

I rolled my eyes. "Fucking idiot. Can't you make a better excuse?" I yelled in the mindlink.

"Keep rolling your eyes you might find your brain back there." He smirked quickly closing the link between us.

A small growl slipped from my lips. My mate instantly snapped her gaze to me.

Fuck! I hissed glaring up at Colton.

I stomped my boots on Colton's feet. He winced shooting me a glare.

I need to him to leave as soon as possible, he's waisting too much time babbling. She might change her mind and leave, I need to atleast get her address or cellphone number.

"You know what I think I better get going I don't want keep her waiting. It was really nice meeting you." He said and soon rushed out the door making my mate frown.

Freya's pov

He was the most gorgeous and attractive man I've ever seen and I can't seem to take my eyes off him. There's something in him that's drawing me towards him.

I have no idea why but I feel safe being around him.

"You haven't told me your name?" His husky voice snapping me out of my trance.

I saw the way he was shooting daggers at his friend to leave. I almost wanted to laugh but held back.

"Sorry what was that?" I asked.

"Your name?" He smiled.

He wanted to know my name. He's a complete stranger should I give him my name? But why do I feel this need to trust him?

"Freya Swanson." I answered.

"Pretty name for a pretty girl like you."

A blush crept on my face. No one has ever called me pretty not even Luke. Okay maybe once when we met the first day.

"I'm Ethan Stone." He said bringing his hand out forward.

When my hand touched his I gasped. I felt a bolt of sparks travel up my arm.

A smile graced his lips as he watched me curiously.

He pulled his hand away and poured himself a drink.

"So Freya are you new around here?"

"Actually I'm here on a holiday. I'll be leaving in a weeks time." I replied taking a sip of the beer.

"Oh" He mumbled. I watch as how his face fall a little in dissapointment.

"God! This tastes awful" I grimaced placing the bottle on the table.

Ethan let out a slight chuckle. "Let me guess this is your first time drinking a beer?"

"Well yes and being in a bar too." I admitted wiggling my eyebrows.

"Then if you don't drink why did you come here?"

I let out a sigh leaning back against the chair, staring down at the table. Memories of Luke and Kimberly naked in bed came flooding back to my mind. Tears threatened to spill but I held them back. I promised myself I wouldn't think of him and his betrayal.

"Freya, are you okay?" Ethan asked as he took my tiny hands into his giant ones. He began to rub tiny circles on my hand which oddly calmed me down a little.

"It's okay if you don't want to talk about it."

I sniffled. It was hard not to forget. I trusted those two and they hurt me. By the time I knew it tears were rolling down my cheek.

Ethan shot up from his chair and scooted beside me, wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

" I'm sorry I'm not the best company tonight." I sobbed as I began wipping away my tears.

"You don't need to be sorry. Whatevers bothering you just let it out, I'm here for you." He said as he cupped my face and gazed into my eyes.

The way he looked at me no man has ever done that before. I could see admiration and tenderness swirl in those beautiful golden orbs.

" I know we might not know each other but please let me be here for you and I know this might sound ridiculous but it pains me seeing you hurt."

He's telling the truth I don't know how I know this but I just know he is and that I can trust him.

He wiped away my tears with the pad of his thumb.

" Why don't we go some place else? I don't want to leave you all by yourself tonight especially when you're in this condition."

I nod. "Okay."

***

Ethan insisted on driving my car saying that I was in no position to drive.

He pulled up down a gravel driveway and I looked up at the log cabin. It had large windows in the front and huge wrap around porch with a second story deck poking out the back. The yard and garden were well maintained.

He got out of the car and rushed to my side, opening the door for me and offering his hand out.

He such a gentlemen. Luke had never done this for me before.

Damn it! Why am I keep thinking of that sleazebag.

I took his hand and immediately felt the same fimiliar sparks I felt before.

We stopped at the door, Ethan fished out the keys from his pocket and unlocked the door. He motions for me to enter first.

As I stepped inside, the place transformed into cozy and inviting kitchen area.

The kitchen boasted a modest size, with enough room to move around comfortably. A four seater dinning table stood in a corner. Marble counter tops adorned the perimeter of the kitchen, adding a touch of elegance to the space.

The floor beneath my feet was made with rich hard wood, adding a rustic charm to the room.

It's glossy surface reflected the soft glow of the overhead lights, further illuminating the space.

"You have a beautiful place." I commented as I glanced around admiring the place.

"Not as beautiful as you." He smirked.
