Caleb's POV
The sound of footsteps approaching the door breaks through the heavy silence that has settled over the room. Mason moves with purpose toward the entrance, his hand reaching for the handle with practiced ease. This has to be Freya finally arriving. The warriors stationed at our perimeter had mind-linked me about her approach several minutes ago, and the anticipation has been building like pressure in my chest.
Mason pulls the door open, and I watch as Theo immediately crosses the room to embrace the woman who steps inside. The relief on his face is unmistakable, though it does nothing to ease the knot of anxiety that has taken permanent residence in my stomach.
"What took you so long?" Theo's voice carries a mixture of concern and mild frustration as he pulls back from their embrace.
