Chapter 55 - Interrupted Power

Ryan didn't rush.

He never needed to.

Everything about him was control—every touch, every glance, every reaction carefully measured.

Arabella lay beneath him, her breathing uneven, her composure slipping inch by inch. The fire in her eyes hadn't disappeared… but it was wavering.

And Ryan saw it.

He always saw everything.

A faint smirk curved his lips.

"Stay still," he murmured, his voice low, commanding.

She obeyed.

Not because she had to—

But because she wanted to.

The tension between them was thick, consuming, dangerous in its own way. Every second stretched, every movement deliberate, like a slow-burning storm waiting to explode.

And just as the moment reached its peak—

The door burst open.

The air shifted instantly.

Cold.

Sharp.

Deadly.

Ryan didn't move immediately.

Didn't react.

But his eyes—

They darkened.

Rowan stepped in first.

Alex followed behind him.

And the moment Alex's gaze landed on the scene before him—

His expression twisted.

Shock.

Then anger.

Ryan slowly sat up, completely unbothered, his presence alone dominating the room even now.

Arabella remained still, silent, watching.

"Well…" Ryan said calmly, his voice cutting through the tension. "You finally showed up."

Alex clenched his jaw.

"You think this is a game?" he snapped.

Ryan tilted his head slightly, amused.

"No."

A pause.

"I don't play games."

The room fell into silence again—but this time, it was heavier. More dangerous.

Rowan stepped forward slightly, eyes scanning everything, calculating.

But Ryan didn't even look at him.

His focus stayed on Alex.

Locked.

Unmoving.

"You walked into my city," Ryan continued, his tone calm but laced with something darker, "made deals behind my back…"

A faint smile appeared.

"And thought I wouldn't notice."

Alex's fists tightened.

"You don't know what you're talking about."

Ryan chuckled.

Soft.

Cold.

"Don't I?"

He stood now, slow and deliberate, the shift in his posture enough to change the entire atmosphere.

Power rolled off him.

Heavy.

Unquestionable.

"Tell me…" Ryan added, stepping closer, his eyes never leaving Alex's.

"How does it feel?"

A pause.

"To sit across from someone…"

His voice dropped.

"…and not recognize the past staring right at you?"

Something flickered in Alex's eyes.

Confusion.

A hint of unease.

Rowan noticed it too.

Ryan smirked.

There it was.

The crack.

"You really don't remember…" he said softly, almost to himself.

Then his gaze sharpened.

Dangerous.

"My father did business with you," he continued.

Silence.

"He trusted you."

Another step forward.

"And you—"

His voice hardened.

"—killed him."

The words hit the room like a bomb.

Alex froze.

For the first time—

Real fear crept in.

"…What?" he said, barely above a whisper.

Ryan's smile didn't reach his eyes.

"It's funny," he went on, calm again. "You taught me something that day."

A pause.

"Never trust a man who smiles too much."

The room felt smaller.

Tighter.

Like it couldn't hold the weight of what was happening.

Rowan shifted slightly, sensing the danger rising fast.

But Ryan wasn't done.

Not even close.

"I should kill you right now," Ryan said quietly.

No emotion.

Just truth.

Arabella's gaze snapped to him.

But he didn't move.

Didn't act.

Instead—

He stepped back.

"Leave."

The word was simple.

Final.

Alex blinked.

Confused.

"…What?"

Ryan's eyes turned cold.

"I said leave."

A pause.

"Before I change my mind."

The tension snapped tight.

For a moment, it felt like the room would explode.

Then—

Rowan grabbed Alex's arm slightly.

A silent warning.

Not now.

Alex hesitated.

Then stepped back.

But his eyes never left Ryan.

Not anymore.

Because now—

He was starting to remember.

Ryan watched them walk out.

Calm.

Unbothered.

But inside—

Something dark had already been set in motion.

He turned slightly, glancing at Arabella.

Then away.

"This ends soon," he said quietly.

Because the past…

Had finally caught up.

And this time—

Ryan Alessandro wasn't the boy who survived.

He was the man who would finish it.
