Chapter 269 - Chapter 269: The Ultimate Spear

The brilliance of that single strike was etched into the retinas of everyone present.

A white blade-light from the horizon had not only vaporized a Tailed Beast Bomb but had nearly slaughtered the Eight-Tails and bisected the very world—this was no longer "ninjutsu." This was a miracle of calamity.

The battlefield fell into a tomb-like silence.

The only sounds were the wet twitches of Killer Bee in his pool of blood and the distant crackle of burning timber.

On the Konoha side, the reactions were a tapestry of shock.

Rin Nohara clutched her mouth, tears of relief and longing already streaming down her face.

Two years.

Seven hundred days and nights she had seen that silhouette in her dreams—sometimes bloodied, sometimes walking away with a cold finality.

She knew he had gone to Shikkotsu Forest, but she hadn't known where. She was afraid to look for fear of disturbing him—or worse, fear of never finding him.

And now, he had returned.

Riding a cloud, settling the world with one swing.

The joy and adrenaline hit the girl so hard she found it difficult to draw breath.

She wanted to shriek his name, but the sound was strangled by her own sobbing as she stared at the back of the man standing by the abyss.

Kurenai Yuhi stood beside her father, Yuhi Shinko, her kunai forgotten in her hand.

She was more reserved than Rin, but the hurricane of emotion in her crimson eyes was just as intense.

The boy who had once seemed so lazy and deep... had he truly reached this god-like state?

"Kurenai," Shinko whispered, his voice heavy with awe. "Remember this moment. This is a level of power that redefines an entire era."

Kurenai nodded frantically, her gaze never shifting an inch from Saiki.

Tsume Inuzuka stood further back in the line, her arms crossed tight over her chest. Her nails dug so deep into her own skin that she drew blood.

Looking at Saiki's back, her heart swelled with a fierce, burning pride. This is my student. The man I raised... the man I let into my bed.

But that pride was quickly pierced by a sharp pang of agony.

Two years ago, Saiki had rushed to the front to avenge her husband. He had been sucked into a death-match with Madara's shadow and fell into a two-year sleep because of it.

What if I had stopped him?

What if I hadn't pushed my hatred onto him?

Tsume ground her teeth, forcing the emotions down. This wasn't the time for a widow's grief. She steeled herself to support him. Saiki was a god, but the Cloud had an army.

Minato Namikaze flickered to Jiraiya's side, his golden hair still swaying from the displacement.

He had been ready to sacrifice himself to teleport the Tailed Beast Bomb.

Then, a flash of white light had simply deleted the end of the world.

"Minato," Jiraiya said, his voice carrying an uncharacteristic weight. "That boy's 'Sage Art'... it is fundamentally different from ours."

Minato nodded, a flicker of professional jealousy passing through his blue eyes.

He was the "Yellow Flash," the greatest genius of the generation.

His Flying Raijin made him untouchable, yet facing that strike, he realized he was looking at a different tier of existence.

It wasn't a gap in speed or technique. It was a difference in the very essence of their souls.

It was a mortal looking up at a god on a mountaintop.

"But he's back," Minato whispered, a smile of relief touching his lips. "The weight on our shoulders can finally be shared."

Kakashi and Obito stood in the same squad, their reactions polar opposites.

Kakashi's face was hidden, but his single visible eye was dilated with shock.

He gripped his blade, his mind frantically trying to analyze the trajectory and destructive yield of that slash—he came up with nothing. It defied the laws of physics as he knew them.

Obito, however...

His teeth were audibly grinding. His Sharingan activated reflexively, the double-tomoe spinning with a manic intensity.

Why?

Why does he get to have all that power?

Why does he get to drop from the sky like a savior and be the hero?

Why does Rin look at him like he's the only person in the universe?

A fire of jealousy and deep-seated inferiority burned in Obito's gut. He wanted to be the one to save Rin. He wanted to be the one the world looked up to.

Now, Saiki stood there like an insurmountable mountain, casting a shadow that made Obito feel like an ant.

"Obito," Kakashi said coldly, sensing the boy's unstable aura. "Control yourself. The Sharingan isn't a tool for your tantrums."

Obito snapped his eyes shut, turning away as he balled his fists.

Jiraiya let out a low whistle, scratching his white mane.

"A true monster..." he muttered. "Is the Senjutsu of Shikkotsu Forest really that insane? Or is that something else entirely?"

As a master of Mount Myoboku's arts, Jiraiya's senses were attuned to nature energy.

He could feel the aura rolling off Saiki—it was vast, pure, and terrifyingly "High-Tier." It was Sage Chakra, but compared to the arts of the Three Great Sages, Saiki's energy felt like refined steel compared to pig iron.

"Tsunade... you really raised a terrifying brat," Jiraiya chuckled, though he felt a profound sense of luck for Konoha.

While Konoha was a mess of conflicting emotions, the Hidden Cloud was simple.

Despair.

The moment that white blade had deleted the Tailed Beast Bomb and crippled the Eight-Tails, every Cloud ninja felt their soul wither.

They were Kumogakure! The strongest military force in the world!

They had the Third Raikage! The AB Combo! The Two-Tails!

They had been sweeping the field, ready to crush the Leaf once and for all!

And now?

One boy. One swing. The world had flipped.

"No... it's impossible..." a Cloud Jonin whispered, collapsing into the mud as he stared at the kilometer-long trench. He watched the Eight-Tails kneeling in its own blood, and his eyes lost focus.

But for most of the Cloud elites, despair turned to a bitter, wounded pride.

They were warriors who had fought for their reputation!

They had built their glory on the back of Lightning Style and raw physical dominance!

How could some brat who appeared out of nowhere negate everything they were with one move?

"BASTARD!" a ninja roared. "It's a trick! A Genjutsu!"

But when he looked at the medical team failing to close Bee's wound, he fell silent.

The reality was too bloody to ignore.

"BEE—!!!"

Ay's shriek tore through the air.

Lightning exploded around him as he prepared to launch himself toward his brother.

But a heavy, calloused hand clamped onto his shoulder.

"Father!" Ay turned, his eyes bloodshot.

The Third Raikage's face was a mask of absolute, frozen calm—the look of a Kage who has seen the end of his path.

"Stay back, Ay," the Raikage rumbled. "If you go now, you are just a corpse."

"But Bee—"

"I know." The Raikage cut him off, his eyes fixed on the youth in the center of the field. "But look at him. That person... is not someone you can fight."

His voice was heavy with a rare, bitter realization.

Who was he?

The man who had wrestled the rampaging Eight-Tails into submission with his bare hands!

The man known as the "Ultimate Spear" and the "Ultimate Shield"!

He had never feared an opponent in his long life.

But looking at Saiki, and the yawning abyss at his feet, he felt a crushing sense of powerlessness.

"That strike," the Raikage said slowly. "If the target had been the Eight-Tails and not the Bomb... Bee would already be dead."

Ay's pupils shrank.

"He destroyed the Bomb to save his command center," the Raikage continued. "Crippling the beast was merely the aftershock."

Merely the aftershock.

Those words made Ay's blood turn to ice.

"So... Father... what do we..." Ay's voice trembled.

The Third Raikage didn't answer. He just watched Saiki.

Then, Saiki moved.

He stood at the edge of the chasm, his gaze sweeping over the Cloud positions.

He didn't speak. He simply raised his long blade once more.

The steel didn't glow. There was no visible chakra. It looked like a common weapon.

Then, he flicked it downward.

A single, casual wave.

In the next heartbeat—

WHOOOOOOOOM—!!!

A gale erupted!

It wasn't wind; it was a physical wall of vacuum-blades.

A tornado of air-shredders hundreds of meters high manifested instantly, screaming across the battlefield toward the Cloud army like a sentient natural disaster!

"DEFENSE!!" a Cloud commander shrieked.

"Earth Style: Mud Wall!"

"Water Style: Water Array Wall!"

"Lightning Style: Plasma Shield!"

Every surviving Cloud ninja unleashed their defenses. Hundreds of barriers rose in a desperate, layered wall of energy.

It was useless.

Before that storm of vacuum-blades, their defenses were nothing but wet paper.

Earth walls were minced. Water walls were vaporized. Lightning shields were shredded!

The tornado swallowed everything in its path—tearing, rending, and pulverizing.

"NO—!!!"

The screams were drowned out by the roar of the wind.

The Cloud camp became a literal slaughterhouse.

Shinobi were hoisted into the air and disassembled. Weapons were reduced to filings. Fortifications were uprooted and ground into dust!

It wasn't a battle. It was a one-sided... scrubbing.

When the storm finally dissipated, the Cloud lines were unrecognizable.

The earth had been leveled. Every building was gone. There was only a landscape of wreckage and groaning survivors.

Of the several thousand Cloud troops who had been standing minutes ago, less than a third were still upright.

Silence.

Even the Konoha side was paralyzed by the sight.

They had seen powerful jutsu. They knew the power of the Tailed Beasts. But this... this exceeded the definition of "Ninjutsu."

This was the wrath of a god.

"Lord Raikage..." the surviving Cloud ninja looked to their leader, their eyes full of a broken, pleading despair.

The Third Raikage took a deep, heavy breath.

He knew. From the moment Saiki manifested on that cloud, the war was over.

They had lost, utterly and completely.

But he could not retreat.

He was the Raikage!

He had to buy time for his remaining kin to escape. He had to preserve the final sparks of his village!

"Ay." The Raikage turned to his son, his expression more solemn than it had ever been. "Listen well—we have lost this war."

"Father—"

"Silence and listen," the Raikage commanded. "Take everyone who can still walk and retreat. Go back to the village and protect the Cloud. From this moment on, you are the Fourth Raikage."

Ay's eyes went wide. "Father! You can't—!"

"I am the Raikage," the old man interrupted, a proud smile touching his lips. "My duty is to fight until the very end."

He patted his son's shoulder, then turned back to face Saiki.

Lightning exploded around him!

A pillar of blue electricity shot into the sky!

The Third Raikage pushed his Lightning Style Chakra Mode beyond its absolute limits, his aura feeling like a volcano seconds from eruption!

"Come then, boy!" he roared. "Let me see if your blade can pierce my Ultimate Spear!"

Before the sentence finished, he lunged!

Speed!

Absolute, mind-bending speed!

A dash so fast it made the "Yellow Flash" look static!

The Raikage became a bolt of blue annihilation. His right hand's fingers were pressed together until only one remained—lightning condensing at the fingertip with terrifying density!

"HELL STAB: ONE-FINGER SPEAR!"

The Ultimate Spear, a full-power, final strike!

He knew he wouldn't get a second chance. This hit contained every year of his training, every drop of his life force!

He would buy the Cloud their future, even if it only cost him one second of Saiki's time!

Saiki watched the incoming bolt of blue lightning, and for the first time, a ripple of emotion crossed his eyes.

It wasn't fear. It was... respect.

He could see the man's entire life in that strike. It was a charge backed by a soul ready to die.

It was the dignity of a Kage and the honor of a warrior—a far cry from the cowardice of Hiruzen or Danzo.

And so, Saiki gave him the response he deserved.

Saiki gripped his sword with both hands, adopting a formal high-guard stance for the first time.

A pure white glow ignited on the blade again, but this time it was faint and deeply contained.

Then, he took one step forward and swung.

The movement was simple. It looked like a beginner practicing a basic overhead cut.

The white blade-light and the blue lightning crossed in the center of the field.

Time seemed to freeze.

Every soul on the battlefield held their breath, their eyes locked on the point of impact.

A microsecond later—

Tch.

The sound was tiny, almost silent.

The Third Raikage's charge came to a dead halt.

He stood ten meters behind Saiki, his back turned. He maintained his lunging pose.

His right hand was still extended, but the lightning at his fingertip had vanished.

Slowly, he lowered his head to look at his chest.

A thin, almost invisible line stretched diagonally from his left shoulder to his right hip.

There was no blood. No wound burst open. But wherever that line had passed, every spark of life and every drop of chakra had been cleanly severed from reality.

"What a... blade..."

The Third Raikage whispered, a look of profound peace and release crossing his face.

Then, his massive frame tilted forward and crashed into the dirt with a heavy thud, kicking up a cloud of dust.

A legend of the Cloud had fallen.

Saiki stood with his sword already sheathed. He turned to face the remnant Cloud units.

He was calm, his clothes untouched by blood or dust.

It looked as if he hadn't just executed one of the strongest men in history, but had merely brushed away a fallen leaf.

The war... was it over?

Silence.

A suffocating, heavy silence that lasted for several minutes.

Then, from the Konoha side, someone whispered, "The Raikage... is he dead?"

"It... it seems so..."

"Then... did we win?"

"We... we won?"

The voices rose from whispers to murmurs, from murmurs to confirmation, and from confirmation to... pure, unbridled ecstasy!

"WE WON!! WE FUCKING WON!!!"

"THE WAR IS OVER!!!"

A cheer erupted like a tsunami!

Konoha ninja discarded their kunai, tore off their blood-stained headbands, and fell into each other's arms, weeping with joy!

Two years!

This god-forsaken war had lasted two years!

How many comrades had they lost? How much blood had they spilled? How much despair had they endured?

And now... it was finished!

Because of one man's arrival. Because of two swings of a sword. The war... had ended in a heartbeat.
