Rahim always believed marriage would be like a beautiful movie. Love, happiness, candlelight dinners, and peaceful evenings. At least, that was what he imagined.
But the day after his wedding with Aisha, he discovered something very important.
Marriage was not a movie.
It was a full adventure.
On the first morning, Rahim woke up late. When he opened his eyes, Aisha was standing beside the bed with her hands crossed.
"Good morning," Rahim said nervously.
Aisha replied, "Good afternoon. It's 11 AM."
Rahim smiled and said, "In my heart it is still morning."
Aisha was not impressed.
Later that day, Rahim tried to help in the kitchen. He proudly said, "Today I will cook!"
Aisha looked happy for a moment.
But after one hour the kitchen looked like a battlefield. There was flour on the table, eggs on the floor, and Rahim was standing with a burnt frying pan.
Aisha came in, looked around, and said, "What did you cook?"
Rahim replied proudly, "Experience."
Another day Rahim forgot their wedding anniversary. When Aisha asked, "Do you remember what day today is?"
Rahim quickly replied, "Of course! Today is… a very special day."
"Yes," Aisha said. "It's our anniversary."
Rahim smiled and said, "See? I told you it's special."
Aisha shook her head but started laughing.
After a few months Rahim told his friend Karim,
"Marriage teaches you many things."
Karim asked, "Like what?"
Rahim said,
"Patience… responsibility… and most importantly, when to say 'Yes dear'."
Karim laughed and said, "So marriage is difficult?"
Rahim smiled and replied,
"No. Marriage is not difficult.
It is just a lifelong comedy."
