It's vacation now, but it's so boring. It would have been better if we had school at least it wouldn't be boring, and I could be with my friends. But now, everyone has their own plans with their families.
Me? Just lying down, scrolling on my phone, sleeping, eating, and repeat. I have no idea where to go this vacation.
While lying down and staring at the ceiling, I let out a sigh. "I need to do something " I whispered to myself. My phone rang with notifications just ads and messages but I ignored them.
Then it suddenly came to my mind: "What if I find someone to talk to, someone I don't know? At least I won't be bored this vacation, and maybe my lips will move too since I always frown." But I ignored the thought and just opened TikTok to scroll. After a few minutes, a video about a dating app appeared.
"I guess this is really a sign that I should find someone to talk to," I said to myself. So I downloaded the app right away.
After I downloaded it,I opened the app, and I didn't know that it's was from China so that language is Chinese, I just looked at my phone and thought, "What should I do now?"
I had to find a tutorial because the app was in a different language. "Good thing I found the settings to change it to English," I said to myself. A few minutes later, I found the language option and switched it.
Once it was in English, I quickly made an account. I typed my name, birthday, and age. I also added a profile picture to show off my looks (or at least I hoped I looked good). I wrote that I liked books, music, and watching shows. I didn't expect anything it was just to pass the time.
After signing up, I started scrolling. "So many foreigners here… will I even get a match?" I said to myself. After a while, I put my phone down because my eyes were tired. I complained, "Ugh, finding someone to talk to is so complicated. So many steps!" Then I lay down and fell asleep.
When I woke up, it was dark. I looked at the time 1 AM on August 6, 2024. "Wow! I slept so long! I napped in the afternoon and now it's this late? What should I do sleep again?" I said. Then I remembered the app. I opened it and saw a notification and this is "It's a Match!" I had several matches, but one guy really caught my attention.
His name was Sevi. His profile said he was 18. He liked music and loved reading books. His smile was cute and he looked really nice. "His smile is so cute, oh my gosh!" I thought, feeling all giddy.
I stared at his profile for a long time. "Should I message him?" I wondered. Then I saw he had messaged me first. I felt my heart race.
"Hi," Sevi said.
"Hello," I replied.
It was just one word, but my heart was beating so fast that I felt like it would jump out of my chest. My hands were shaking, and I didn't know why I was so nervous.
I stared at the screen, waiting for his reply, not knowing that this simple 'Hi' would be the start of something I would never forget.
