Chapter 7 - Shattered Masks

Chapter Title: Chapter 7: Shattered Masks

The silence in the hall was deafening. Kaelen stood frozen, his eyes scanning Elara's face as if searching for the broken girl he had exiled five years ago. But that girl was gone. In her place was a woman who radiated authority and a quiet, lethal grace.

"Elara... it's impossible," Seraphina finally hissed, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and rage. "You were an Omega! You should have died in that forest!"

Elara turned her gaze toward her stepsister. The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees. "I did die, Seraphina," Elara said, her voice calm and cold. "The weak, pathetic girl you tormented died that night. But nature has a funny way of balancing things. It turns out, I was never meant to be your Omega."

Kaelen finally found his voice, though it sounded raw. "Where have you been? And this power... what have you become?" He took a step toward her, but a low, dangerous growl from the shadows stopped him dead in his tracks.

Out of the darkness, a massive black wolf stepped forward, its eyes glowing like sapphires. It didn't belong to any pack they knew. It stood protectively beside Elara, its presence enough to make the Silver Moon warriors flinch.

"I am someone who no longer answers to you, Kaelen," Elara replied, stepping closer to him until they were only inches apart. "I didn't come here for an apology. I came here to witness the beginning of the end."

She leaned in, whispering just for him to hear: "The Blood Moon gave you a mate, and you threw her away. Now, the Silver Moon has returned to claim what is hers."

Without waiting for a response, Elara turned and walked toward the exit, the giant wolf following her. She didn't look back. She didn't need to. The seed of fear had been planted, and in the world of wolves, fear was the deadliest poison.
