Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: The Night He Took Everything

The streets were silent except for the echo of her own footsteps. Aanya's hands trembled, but she forced herself to keep moving. Her father… gone. Her family… in chaos. And all around her, the city whispered of betrayal, power, and death.

She had to survive. She had to find answers. But most of all, she had to get away from him.

The man in the alley hadn't moved. His dark eyes followed her, calculating, unreadable. Blood streaked his hands and splattered his jacket, yet he didn't look like a killer—at least, not in the way she expected.

"You shouldn't be here," he said, voice low, dangerous.

"I… I'm leaving," Aanya stammered, trying to back away.

He stepped closer, and despite every instinct screaming at her to run, something rooted her to the spot. There was power in him. Danger. And… recognition? She didn't know. She only knew one thing: her life had just changed, and he was at the center of it.

"You're mine now," he whispered.

Aanya's heart froze. Not with fear—though she was terrified—but with something else she couldn't name. Rage. Curiosity. Confusion.

And then she heard it—the sound of footsteps behind her. Quick, deliberate, deadly.

Before she could react, a shadow lunged from the darkness. Rey moved like a predator, catching her arm and pulling her behind a dumpster. The assassin's blade grazed his shoulder, and pain laced the air with blood and fear.

"Stay behind me," he growled. His voice was no longer calm, no longer measured. It was raw. Protective. Possessive.

Aanya swallowed hard, realizing the truth she hadn't wanted to admit: she couldn't survive this night alone—and neither could he.

The world she had known was gone. Her father was dead, her family shattered, and the man standing in front of her… was both her enemy and the only person who could save her.

And as she looked into his stormy eyes, Aanya understood something terrifying: this night had taken everything from her, and there was no going back.
