Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Fire and Secrets

Aanya barely slept that night. The mansion was too quiet, too controlled—too Rey. Every shadow seemed to whisper danger, every creak of the floorboards made her heart leap. She couldn't shake the feeling that someone—or something—was watching.

Her eyes fell on a small envelope lying on the desk. It had her father's initials—A.J.—scrawled in familiar handwriting. Hands trembling, she opened it. Inside was a clue: a map of the city with marked locations, and a note written in her father's sharp hand:

"Trust no one. The truth is buried where the darkness reigns."

Her pulse quickened. Someone wanted her to find this. Someone wanted her to dig deeper.

Footsteps echoed behind her. She spun around—Rey was there, his dark eyes piercing hers.

"You found it," he said quietly. "I knew you would."

"Why are you here?" she demanded. "What do you want from me?"

He stepped closer, dangerously close, and whispered, "I want you alive. And I want the truth with you. But if you're not careful, you'll get lost in it."

Aanya's stomach twisted. She hated that she felt a strange pull toward him—fear, curiosity, and something else she couldn't name. He was dangerous. He was possessive. He was everything she shouldn't trust… and yet, she couldn't look away.

The city outside roared with unseen threats, and Aanya realized one terrifying truth: her father's secrets were only the beginning, and Rey was tied to every one of them.
