Chapter 7 - chapter 7

The night had grown quieter.

Too quiet.

Alex stood beneath the towering trees beyond the village, shadows pooling at his feet like obedient servants. The air itself felt heavier than before—subtle, suffocating… watching.

He noticed it immediately.

Not with his eyes.

But with something deeper.

Something that didn't belong to this world.

"…You feel that too, right?" Nyx's voice slipped into his mind, softer than usual, lacking its usual mocking edge for just a moment.

Alex didn't answer right away.

His gaze lifted toward the sky, where the clouds seemed unnaturally still.

"I do," he said finally.

The world was reacting.

Not openly.

Not violently.

But… deliberately.

Like something unseen had shifted its attention toward him.

Nyx let out a quiet hum.

"Guess breaking the script already got you noticed. Congratulations… you're officially a problem."

Alex's lips curved slightly.

"A problem that hasn't even started yet."

His focus shifted.

Not to the sky.

Not to the pressure pressing against reality.

But back to something far more important.

Seraphina.

She stood alone in the clearing again.

This time, there was no hesitation in her stance.

But there was tension.

More than before.

Her aura flickered unevenly, the suppressed Wrath inside her reacting violently to something unseen. Her control wasn't as stable as it had been the night before.

Good.

That meant the seed had taken root.

Alex remained hidden, watching.

Not interfering.

Not yet.

Nyx's voice returned, casual again.

"Wow… look at that. One conversation and she's already unstable. You're terrible for her."

Alex ignored her.

Seraphina raised her hand slowly.

Dark energy gathered—denser than before, heavier, more violent.

Then—

It snapped.

Power burst outward in a sudden surge, cracking the ground beneath her feet.

She gasped, stumbling back, eyes wide.

"…No… I lost control…"

Her voice trembled.

But Alex saw the truth.

It wasn't loss of control.

It was release.

A small one.

But real.

And more importantly…

She didn't look afraid of the power itself.

She looked afraid of what it meant.

Nyx clicked her tongue.

"Mm… there it is. The moment. Fear mixed with curiosity. That's always the fun part."

Alex stepped forward.

This time, he didn't hide.

The shadows peeled away from his form as he entered the clearing, his presence calm, composed… inevitable.

Seraphina's head snapped toward him instantly.

"You—"

Her aura flared defensively.

But it wasn't hostility.

Not fully.

"…You did this," she said, her voice unsteady.

Alex stopped a few steps away, hands relaxed at his sides.

"I didn't force anything."

His crimson eyes met hers.

"You chose to try."

Silence fell between them.

The wind shifted.

Her fingers tightened.

"…William said—"

"He told you to suppress it."

Alex's voice was calm, cutting through her words without raising in volume.

"And how is that working for you?"

She froze.

Because she didn't have an answer.

Nyx let out a quiet snort.

"Ouch. Straight to the point. No mercy."

Seraphina's gaze dropped slightly, her breathing uneven.

"…If I lose control… I could hurt people."

"And if you keep suppressing it," Alex replied, "you'll never become what you're capable of."

He stepped closer.

Not threatening.

Not aggressive.

But close enough that she could feel the difference in their presence.

Her power was unstable.

His… wasn't.

"You're not weak, Seraphina," he said quietly. "You're incomplete."

Her eyes widened slightly.

The word hit deeper than anything else.

Nyx's voice hummed with amusement.

"Yeah… that one landed."

Seraphina's aura flickered again.

But this time—

It didn't collapse.

It steadied.

Just a little.

"…And you think you can fix that?" she asked, her voice quieter now.

Alex's gaze didn't waver.

"I don't fix people."

A pause.

"I show them what they are."

Silence.

Heavy.

Dangerous.

Her heartbeat quickened—not from fear, but from something far more complicated.

Doubt.

Curiosity.

Temptation.

The three things that could break loyalty faster than force ever could.

Nyx spoke again, softer this time.

"She's thinking… careful, Alex. This is where it starts getting interesting."

Alex turned slightly, shadows shifting at his feet.

"I won't force you," he said. "Follow your path."

A small pause.

"…But make sure it's your path."

And with that—

He stepped back.

The shadows swallowed him.

Gone.

Just like that.

Seraphina stood alone in the clearing.

Her hands trembled slightly.

Not from fear.

But from the lingering feeling of power still coursing through her veins.

Stronger than before.

Warmer.

Alive.

"…My path…" she whispered.

For the first time—

William's words didn't feel absolute.

Far away, standing atop a cliff overlooking the territory, Alex watched the village in silence.

The world still pressed against him.

Watching.

Waiting.

Correcting.

But now…

He had started pulling at one of its most important threads.

Nyx's voice returned, light and teasing again.

"Well… you didn't mess it up. I'm honestly impressed."

Alex didn't respond.

His gaze shifted toward the distant horizon.

Toward the capital.

Toward the place that had cast him aside.

Everything was moving.

Slowly.

Precisely.

Exactly as he intended.

"She'll come to you eventually," Nyx added.

Alex's expression didn't change.

"I don't need her to come to me."

A faint pause.

"I need her to choose."

Nyx laughed softly.

"Yeah… that's way worse."

The wind howled faintly across the cliffs.

And beneath it—

The world stirred.

Because for the first time…

Something was no longer following the script.

And it had a name.

Alex.
