Episode 11: The Threat Escalates
The next morning, Seo‑ah woke to a news alert: "Former Daehan Director Cha Myung‑soo Still at Large—Police Expand Search."
She read the article while Ju‑hyuk made coffee in her kitchen. The police had searched three properties linked to Cha, all of them empty. They had traced his phone to a burner that went dead two days after his disappearance. They had no leads.
"They're not going to find him," she said when Ju‑hyuk came in.
"They will. It's just a matter of time."
"Time is what he's using." She set down her phone. "He sent that letter because he wants me to be scared. He wants me to hide."
"Then don't hide."
She looked at him. "What do you mean?"
"He's waiting for you to retreat. So do the opposite." He handed her a coffee. "Go public. Give interviews about the welfare program. Talk about what Cha did to the employees. Make him a story that no one can ignore."
"That's risky."
"Everything is risky." He sat beside her. "But you're not the same person who was afraid of him. You're the person who took him down."
She thought about it. The old Seo‑ah would have retreated. The old Seo‑ah would have waited for someone else to solve the problem.
The old Seo‑ah was dead.
"Okay," she said. "Let's do it."
