Chapter 8 - Killing Zhao Hu

Chen Jie took a proper look.

The person who had arrived was none other than Zhao Hu, the class monitor of Class Six.

This Zhao Hu had always been arrogant.

At school, he was a well-known bully, often picking on younger students.

He had been criticized by the school many times.

Now that the apocalypse had arrived, he had only become even worse.

"If you know what's good for you, hand over the supplies obediently. Our boss has already awakened an ability—even monsters aren't his match."

One of Zhao Hu's lackeys pointed at Lin Shiyu beside Chen Jie.

Not long ago, Zhao Hu had successfully awakened his talent.

He had helped quite a few people from Class Six escape danger and gathered the surviving students under him as subordinates.

"Brother Chen, this…"

Lin Shiyu, carrying two large bags of food, turned to look at Chen Jie.

Without Chen Jie's instructions, he didn't dare hand over the supplies.

"You people from Class Six really are used to being arrogant. I gathered these supplies myself—why should I give them to you?"

Chen Jie frowned.

What he hated most were people like Zhao Hu who bullied the weak.

"Refuse a toast only to be forced to drink a penalty!"

Zhao Hu's expression turned angry as he clenched his fists.

Then, behind him, two massive wings appeared, covered with patches of white spots.

It seemed that before the apocalypse, Zhao Hu had swallowed a seven-spotted ladybug.

That was why he had undergone this transformation.

Zhao Hu's wings flapped violently, and he shot toward Chen Jie like a meteor.

His observation skills were decent.

He had immediately identified Chen Jie as the leader of their group.

"Courting death!"

Chen Jie flicked his hand lightly, and the Heaven-Opening Axe instantly appeared in his grasp.

A vast, mysterious aura coiled around the axe.

"I've already reached Tier Two—let me show you my strength!"

Zhao Hu shouted loudly, his tone full of arrogance.

At the same time, the muscles on his body began to writhe and contract, looking even more powerful.

Chen Jie stared straight at Zhao Hu, completely calm, gripping the axe tightly.

A flash of cold light shot forward, aiming directly at Zhao Hu's face.

Bang!

The Heaven-Opening Axe struck Zhao Hu's iron-like hand, producing a sharp metallic screech.

Unable to withstand the force, Zhao Hu was knocked backward.

He forced himself to stand upright, pretending to remain calm.

"Boss, go! Beat Chen Jie down!"

Zhao Hu's lackeys shouted loudly.

But they had no idea how much pressure Zhao Hu was under.

From that first exchange alone, Zhao Hu felt as though his iron fists had struck an enormous mountain.

Unmovable!

What kind of terrifying strength was that?

After being knocked back by Chen Jie's axe, Zhao Hu's hands trembled slightly, his expression grave.

It was too late for him to admit defeat now.

If he did, he wouldn't be able to maintain any standing in the future.

"Kid, you've got some skill. Again!"

Zhao Hu's expression hardened as he roared.

He looked imposing, but in truth, he was just trying to bolster his own courage.

His iron-like fists struck toward Chen Jie once more.

"You dare hurt Xiao Jie!"

Before Chen Jie could act, Xia Wanrou charged out from the side.

Her body was covered in scales, and lightning crackled along the sword in her hand.

The blade pointed directly at Zhao Hu.

Sensing the overwhelming energy, Zhao Hu broke into a cold sweat, barely managing to raise his hands to block.

Clang!

Xia Wanrou's sword struck Zhao Hu's steel-like hands, producing a sharp sound.

This attack was extremely fierce and infused with lightning.

It instantly scorched Zhao Hu's hands red.

"You two ganging up on me as a couple—that's shameless!"

One of Zhao Hu's lackeys protested.

But with a single glare from Xia Wanrou, he shrank back behind Zhao Hu.

"Wanrou, step back and rest. Leave this to me!"

Chen Jie stepped in front of Xia Wanrou.

He wanted to test the true power of his abilities after advancing to the peak of Tier Two.

"Xiao Jie…"

Xia Wanrou called out worriedly.

Seeing how firmly Chen Jie stood his ground, she said no more.

She was willing to protect him, but anything Chen Jie wanted to do, she would not interfere.

Since he wanted to face this alone, she would simply stand behind and watch.

"Don't think you've already won. Once I kill you, I'll deal with the girl behind you!"

Despite being repelled twice, Zhao Hu remained confident.

The soft wings behind him vibrated violently, while the hardened wings twisted in front of him to form a shield.

Zhao Hu pushed his speed to the limit, crashing toward Chen Jie.

With the enhancement from the seven-spotted ladybug's talent, his body had become as hard as diamond.

Zhao Hu refused to believe that Chen Jie's shabby axe could break through his defense.

As long as Chen Jie couldn't break his defense, he could find an opportunity to kill him.

"What a turtle shell!"

Chen Jie roared, raising the Heaven-Opening Axe high.

"Heaven-Cleaving Creation!"

With his increased level, using Heaven-Cleaving Creation caused a surge of energy to envelop him.

A faint, illusory energy layer appeared around the axe.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The axe struck Zhao Hu squarely.

Waves of intense energy spread outward.

A powerful gust swept through the area, and those without abilities were left dizzy and disoriented.

Moments later—

Crack!

A crisp sound rang through the air.

In an instant, Zhao Hu's hardened wings shattered into pieces, scattering everywhere.

Zhao Hu's defense had been broken!

He specialized in defense, yet he couldn't withstand a single strike from Chen Jie!

With his only advantage gone, Zhao Hu's body became extremely vulnerable.

The Heaven-Opening Axe swung down, severing one of Zhao Hu's arms.

Blood splattered across the ground.

"Boss lost? But he's a Tier Two Awakened! How could Chen Jie defeat him in one move?!"

"What do we do? We don't have abilities—without the boss, we're dead for sure in this apocalypse!"

"Boss, keep going! Get up and fight again!"

Some of Zhao Hu's lackeys continued to support him, while others were already considering surrendering to Chen Jie.

"Chen Jie, I… I lost. You're magnanimous… spare me!"

Zhao Hu clutched his wound in pain, begging for mercy.

As long as he could live, he was willing to abandon all dignity.

"Oh? Where's that arrogance from before? I preferred you when you were defiant!"

Chen Jie held the Heaven-Opening Axe and walked toward Zhao Hu step by step.

Spare Zhao Hu?

That was impossible.

Having lived two lives, his heart had long since become as cold and hard as stone.

Leaving enemies alive in the apocalypse—was not a good habit.

As Chen Jie approached step by step, Zhao Hu's face filled with extreme terror.

"No! Chen Jie! You wouldn't dare kill me! Do you know who my brother is? He's from the Azure Dragon Gang—"

Zhao Hu shouted hoarsely.

Unfortunately… the Heaven-Opening Axe had no ears to hear him. With a casual sweep, it severed Zhao Hu's head.
