Chapter 64 - The Blank Page

The obsidian pen hovered over the empty space.

The shelf where ZAYDEN CROSS should have rested remained bare.

No book.

No title.

Only absence.

The hooded figure watched it in silence.

"So..."

it whispered,

"Even your story refuses to be written."

Zayden stepped forward.

"You're not taking my future."

The figure tilted its head.

"I cannot take what does not exist."

"It has yet to be written."

The words echoed through the Archive.

---

Miriam moved between them.

"This Archive is sacred."

"No story ends by force."

The figure looked at her.

"You misunderstand."

It gently rested the obsidian pen against its palm.

"I do not force endings."

"I complete them."

Aster shook his head.

"Completion without choice is not completion."

The hooded figure remained calm.

"A choice always ends."

"The only question is..."

"Who writes the final sentence?"

---

Without warning...

A blank book drifted down from the endless shelves.

It landed in front of Zayden.

Its cover was pure white.

No title.

No author.

No pages filled with ink.

The silver key floated toward it.

The obsidian pen did the same.

Light and darkness surrounded the book.

Miriam whispered,

"The Book of Possibility..."

The Keeper's eyes widened.

"It actually exists."

The hooded figure extended its hand.

"Write your ending."

Zayden frowned.

"I don't know how."

"You don't need to."

"The book responds to truth."

---

Aria stepped beside him.

"Whatever happens..."

"You won't face it alone."

Zayden smiled.

"As always."

He placed his hand on the blank cover.

Nothing happened.

Then...

Aria placed her hand over his.

A single word appeared on the first page.

Hope.

The Archive trembled.

The hooded figure looked at the page.

Then quietly asked,

"Why?"

Zayden answered without hesitation.

"Because hope leaves room for tomorrow."

The page turned by itself.

A second word appeared.

Choice.

Captain Lyra smiled.

Elysia stepped closer.

The Keeper placed his hand on the book.

Then the Null King.

Aster.

Miriam.

Finally...

Elias.

Each touch caused another word to appear.

Trust.

Memory.

Courage.

Forgiveness.

Beginning.

The white book glowed brighter with every word.

---

The hooded figure remained perfectly still.

Then...

It looked down at its own obsidian pen.

For the first time...

The pen hesitated.

A tiny crack spread across its surface.

The figure whispered,

"I had forgotten..."

"...stories could grow."

The black flames surrounding it weakened.

Across the Archive...

Books that had been fading began to shine once more.

The distant stars returned.

One by one.

The civilizations that had nearly vanished reappeared.

Not because history changed.

Because their stories continued.

---

The hooded figure slowly closed its hand around the pen.

"I cannot remain."

Its voice had become softer.

"The story has rejected its ending."

It looked toward Zayden.

"The unwritten path..."

"...belongs to you now."

The obsidian pen dissolved into black feathers that scattered through the endless shelves.

The hooded figure faded with them.

Just before disappearing completely, it spoke one final sentence.

> "Every ending deserves the chance to become a beginning."

Silence returned.

The white book floated gently into Zayden's hands.

Its cover changed.

Silver letters slowly appeared.

THE BOOK OF THE FREE ANCHOR

Miriam smiled through tears.

"It finally has an author."

Aster looked toward the endless shelves.

"No."

He corrected gently.

"It has many."

Far beyond the Library of Lives...

The mysterious observer watched another impossible event unfold.

For the first time since the dawn of creation...

A story had refused to accept its ending.

And somewhere in the infinite beyond...

A new page turned by itself.
