I sat upon Kael's legs, his arms wrapped around me as I held a glass of wine in my hand. The crackling of the fire lit up the face of my mother and Luna Leila, or Leila as she would now be, as the two of them sat and talked. I joined in here and there, but I knew, as much as I needed to catch up with her, so did Grace's mother. My mother had been given a clean bill of health, and simply needed to rest. We would have all the time in the world to talk. We were building a future for us all, and, I hoped that one day these two women could become firm friends.
The gentle tinkle of laughter had drifted over on the breeze here and there, as I sat snuggled within my mate's embrace, telling me that they were doing just fine. Things may be difficult for the two of them in the coming months, especially having rejected their mate, but with the support of those around them, and, more importantly, one another, I believed they would be okay.
