The beach was still recovering from the fight.
A huge portion of the sand had been carved apart.
There were craters everywhere.
The volleyball court was half-destroyed.
One of the surfboards was somehow stuck upside-down in the sand.
Takeru stared at the damage.
"…Yeah."
Takaba walked up beside him.
"I said I had an idea."
Takeru looked at him suspiciously.
"What exactly is your idea?"
Takaba smiled.
"Well…"
He looked around at the destroyed beach.
Then at Takeru.
"What if…"
He paused dramatically.
"…the beach was never destroyed?"
Takeru blinked.
"…That's your joke?"
Takaba shrugged.
"Yeah."
Nothing happened.
Takeru stared at him.
"…I don't get it."
Takaba's expression suddenly changed.
"Wait."
The world seemed to hesitate.
FWOOM.
The craters began disappearing.
Everyone froze.
The shattered volleyball court reconstructed itself.
The broken surfboards snapped back together.
The sand smoothed itself out.
The damaged umbrellas straightened.
Even the enormous trench created by the god-guy's attacks vanished.
Takeru's jaw dropped.
"…You actually did it."
Takaba looked around.
"I guess I thought it was funny."
The entire beach was suddenly back to normal.
Yuji stared at the restored volleyball court.
"…That's ridiculous."
Maki picked up a perfectly intact volleyball.
"I hate how useful that is."
Hakari laughed.
"That's Takaba for you."
Takeru looked at Takaba.
Then at the perfectly restored beach.
Then back at Takaba.
"You literally just joked the damage away."
Takaba nodded.
"Yep."
Takeru's eyes lit up.
"That is awesome."
Takaba grinned.
"Want to hear another one?"
Takeru immediately backed away.
"NO."
Takaba laughed.
"Why?"
"Because I don't know what reality you're going to break next!"
Yuji pointed toward the ocean.
"Honestly, I'm more worried about what happens if he thinks something else is funny."
Takaba looked toward the water.
"…Wouldn't it be funny if the beach had a water slide?"
Everyone turned toward the ocean.
Silence.
Then—
BOOOOOOM!
A gigantic water slide appeared from the top of a nearby cliff, spiraling all the way down into the ocean.
Takeru stared.
"…You have got to be kidding me."
Takaba smiled.
"Funny, right?"
Takeru looked at the slide.
Then smiled.
"…Yeah."
He immediately ran toward it.
"FIRST ONE DOWN!"
Yuji chased after him.
"WAIT FOR ME!"
The beach erupted into chaos once again.
