Chapter 12 - 12

My Sister Never Said She Was a Creepy Tale

The two chatted about other things outside the corridor for a while, and feeling the time was right, they finally entered the dormitory.

Fan Ning looked at Yue Yiyue anxiously: "I won't cause you too much trouble. I can sleep on the floor, or I can just sit on a chair all night."

"No need," Yue Yiyue rejected Fan Ning's suggestion. This Fan Ning looked too weak; she would surely catch a cold like that.

Just as she was about to explain, she saw Fan Ning stand up, apparently having understood and preparing to leave.

"That's not what she meant," Gu Nanqiu quickly stopped her. "Yiyue means you should sleep on the bed. There's no need to sleep on the floor or a chair, and those places aren't comfortable for sleeping." She explained softly, then soothed Fan Ning: "We'll accompany you back to your dorm now to get any usable clothes. If you get used to staying here, then you can stay here."

Fan Ning was a bit surprised. She had only planned to stay for one night and figure out other solutions tomorrow. Her eyes reddened again.

"Thank you… thank you. I… I definitely won't let you down." "Let's go back and get the things now. I… thank you. You are both very kind people, it's just that they are too mean." Saying this, Fan Ning choked up and couldn't speak.

The one who intercepted her this time was her cousin. Their relationship wasn't close, but he had heard that Gu Nanqiu was in this class and wanted to ask for her contact information. Without Gu Nanqiu's consent, that contact information definitely couldn't be given out.

"I'm sorry; I'm too weak, so I always run into things like this." She was already accustomed to it. Numb.

"This isn't your fault," Gu Nanqiu comforted her. "Speaking of which, this matter is somewhat related to me too."

While speaking, the three arrived in front of Fan Ning's dormitory. The inside was indeed a complete mess. There was also a young girl silently standing inside, cleaning up. Seeing Fan Ning, the girl sighed, threw the broom aside, took some neatly folded clothes from a nearby wardrobe, and tossed them at Fan Ning: "Get out. Don't let me see you in this dorm again." "You still dare to come back? Hmph." Then she pushed Fan Ning out with disgust: "Hurry up and scram. You're not welcome here. I've had enough of sharing a dorm with you."

After saying that, she slammed the door shut. Gu Nanqiu looked at the girl's expression and guessed that someone might be watching this person. She turned to look at Yue Yiyue, who was staring at that dormitory, lost in thought.

Having an extra person in the dormitory didn't affect Yue Yiyue much. She wrote problems, washed clothes, showered, studied problems, and spaced out. It wasn't exactly spacing out, though. She was contemplating the conditions for passing: Helping the bullied people. They were doing that right here. But to what extent did they need to help to leave? Should they deal with that cousin tomorrow? Could they win? Would he suddenly transform into some disgusting creature?

Tap, tap, tap. The sound of knocking echoed again. Yue Yiyue, sitting right by the door, paused: "Who is it?"

"It's me… Zhang Yang."

The door opened, and a slightly disheveled Zhang Yang rushed in. Her hair was messy, and there was a distinct bruise around her neck. She wiped her lips: "Damn it, bad luck. I drew the Bully Card. I just got beaten in the dorm. She said I was low-class and unworthy of sharing a dorm with her." Saying this, Zhang Yang spat: "This place is truly bizarre. We need to hurry up and go back." "Damn Zhao Heyi, may he die a thousand cuts! Don't let me catch him, or I swear I'll beat him soundly and then tie him up and dump him here."

Gu Nanqiu, who was hanging laundry on the balcony, heard the commotion. She peeked out and hurriedly took out iodine from a nearby cabinet: "There's a mirror over there; apply this to your scratches first. I'll go get a wet wipe for you, and then you can go inside and wash up properly." Hearing this, Yue Yiyue got up and moved to the balcony, with Gu Nanqiu following closely. She looked at Yue Yiyue with a slight apology. Yue Yiyue confirmed the paper in her hand wouldn't drip water: "One bed is just right for her to sleep with the two of them."

When it was nearly time for lights out, Gu Nanqiu pulled the curtain shut and made sure the door lock was properly secured.

"There! Now we have a four-person dorm!" She playfully winked at Yue Yiyue. "I just don't know where Wang Xiaoyan is. I really hope she's okay, because if there's another person in the dorm, it'll be troublesome." After saying this, she looked at the somewhat bewildered Zhang Yang and Fan Ning: "You two can live here peacefully. You're both in the same situation now, so don't overthink it or feel the need to reflect." "Lights out soon; you two rest well." Saying that, she climbed onto Yue Yiyue's bed and urged Yue Yiyue to get in so they could sleep.

Zhang Yang stood frozen, looking at Yue Yiyue climbing onto that soft, fragrant little bed in disbelief. This situation exceeded her estimation. It shouldn't be like this. Her face twisted slightly as she watched Gu Nanqiu's pale hand slowly draw the bed curtain closed, finally covering the figures of the two of them.

"Sleep?" Fan Ning looked at the person beside her whose face kept changing. She hesitated whether she should just sleep on the chair.

"Sleep," Zhang Yang looked at the unexpected person, and she showed a calm smile. "I might wake up at night, worried I might disturb you, so you sleep on the inner side, Classmate Fan." "We don't know why we all ended up in this situation, but let's work hard together and not let those people bully us," Zhang Yang said seriously. "That Yue Yiyue is very strong. If you have any trouble, just tell them to find her and report you to her."

Yue Yiyue, curled up under the blanket, was startled by Zhang Yang's words. She pondered that perhaps the previous Yue Yiyue was already very capable in a fight, which Zhang Yang knew. Great! No wonder Gu Nanqiu didn't react when she beat that previously cannon-fodder Class Monitor.

At midnight, Yue Yiyue, who hadn't been able to fall into a deep sleep due to overthinking, felt something soft and warm roll into her embrace. She instinctively pulled the blanket over the person. Then she lowered her head to sniff the slightly sweet, cloying scent of the person's hair. It felt very comfortable, very secure.

Although the dormitory didn't have air conditioning, it was inexplicably cold, as if it were the morgue in a funeral home. Although this was an inauspicious thought, the dormitory in the original novel was indeed located in a morgue's cold storage area. This was why Yue Yiyue had asked Gu Nanqiu to sleep with her. Sleeping alone made one feel quite cold.

She closed her eyes again, intending to just rough it out for the night, when Yue Yiyue felt something slide across her hand, then slip under the sleeve of her somewhat loose sleepwear, slowly crawling toward a certain spot. This sensation was not good. Yue Yiyue wanted to open her eyes to see what the thing was, but her brain issued an absurd command: "Do not provoke It." She was completely unaware of how absurd this command was, but she quietly obeyed it, stopping her curious investigation and choosing instead to endure. It was as if she had often tolerated this thing in the past.

Thick tentacles churned beneath the quilt, raising small waves. But the movement was soothing, as if performing a special kind of lullaby. Occasionally, it unintentionally left ambiguous red marks on her wheat-colored skin.

After the strange thing on her body was satisfied and withdrew, Yue Yiyue fell into a deep sleep. If she had opened her eyes at this moment, she would have seen a small, slightly pale pink, wet tentacle with water droplets curled up in her arms—not exactly cute, as this thing didn't look like it belonged in this world.
