Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Real and Fake Heiress

"Host, this system is absolutely not lying to you. You really do have Golden Carp Luck! Someone like you is truly the most suited to be a Quick Transmigrator."

In the backseat, Ning Yue sat up straight, completely unfazed. Her beautiful Taohua eyes glanced at the driver in his black suit and white gloves before lowering her gaze. She grumbled inwardly, wondering what it mattered if she wasn't suited for it. Hadn't it already kidnapped her and brought her to this unfamiliar place anyway?

Seeing that Ning Yue still refused to speak, System 009 grew anxious. "Host, this system really isn't lying! If you don't believe it, go buy a lottery ticket and try your luck. Once you buy it, you'll know whether you have Golden Carp Luck or not!"

Ning Yue remained silent, but her gaze shifted toward the storefronts blurring past the window. She remembered there was a sports lottery shop just a short distance ahead.

Two minutes later, the black luxury car pulled over by the sidewalk. Ning Yue fished two one-yuan bills out of her pocket, pushed the door open, and stepped out, making her way into the lottery station.

The driver turned his head, slightly dazed as he watched the young miss's retreating figure. He quickly retracted his gaze.

Three minutes later, she returned to the car holding a lottery ticket.

System 009 felt quite smug. The fact that its Host was willing to buy a ticket proved she believed its words. As long as the ticket won, was there any fear she wouldn't cooperate with it to complete missions in the future?

The car soon returned to the Yan family villa. Ning Yue stepped out as calmly as usual, though the Yan family was destined for anything but peace today. Today, the true eldest daughter of the Yan family would return. As for her, the fake heiress, she was scheduled to officially begin her tragic life according to the original plotline.

Of course, that was only the original plotline.

Inside the villa, the butler, who used to greet her every day the moment she came home, simply stood off to the side today. There was a different, underlying meaning in the way he looked at her.

All the Yan Family members were gathered in the living room: Mr. Yan, Young Master Yan, Aunt Yan and her husband, their daughter Li Jiaojiao, and the original owner's nominal fiancé, Young Master Gong. Beside them stood a girl around the same age as Ning Yue.

The girl had a sweet appearance, sporting a classic student bob cut. She had fair skin and a well-proportioned figure, bearing a seventy percent resemblance to Mother Yan. This was none other than one of the parties involved in the switch at birth—the true eldest daughter of the Yan family, Ning Qingqing. No, she would soon change her name to Yan Qingqing.

Seeing her return, Mother Yan's previously smiling face immediately fell. Her voice carried an unfeeling, icy tone. "Ning Yue, come here. We have something to tell you."

In the past, the family had always called the original owner Yuanyuan. They had only just found their biological daughter, yet they were already treating their adopted daughter with such coldness. Only the original owner had been unable to see through it back then, staying behind just because of a few words from the Yan couple, ultimately meeting such a miserable end.

Yan Qingqing couldn't help but let her gaze fall upon Ning Yue. Having usurped her identity and enjoyed seventeen years of wealth and luxury in the Yan family, Ning Yue must surely be filled with indignation now that the truth was out. She tried her best to ignore Ning Yue's face—a face that would make anyone jealous—and turned her head to look at Gong Yuze, who was sitting beside Father Yan. A trace of smugness actually welled up in her heart.

So what if she was beautiful? The one Yu Ze liked was her, Yan Qingqing! He completely turned a blind eye to Yan Ningyue!

Ning Yue casually carried her backpack in her hand and walked over to the only empty sofa, which sat opposite Mother Yan. She sat down, resting the bag on her lap, her back perfectly straight and her posture impeccable.

Seeing that she didn't greet the family, Mother Yan couldn't help but frown. A flash of displeasure crossed her exceptionally well-maintained face. However, remembering her husband's instructions, she forcefully held her temper in check. "There is something we need to inform you of. A few days ago, we discovered that you are not our biological daughter—Qingqing is. On the day I gave birth, your biological mother was also giving birth in the same hospital, and a nurse accidentally switched the two of you. Now that we've found Qingqing, she'll be living with us from now on. She's suffered a lot in the past, so you need to be more accommodating toward her in the future..."

Ning Yue wondered why she should have to accommodate her. Besides, when had Yan Qingqing ever suffered?

"Could you give me a copy of my biological parents' information?" Ning Yue asked.

Father Yan shot her a look of surprise. Originally, based on his understanding of her, this daughter would surely be terrified upon suddenly hearing she wasn't their biological child. She was supposed to break down in tears and beg them not to drive her away. He never expected her reaction to be this calm.

Yan Haotian tossed a file down in front of her with a SMACK. "It's all in here. However, if you want to stay in this house, it's best you minimize contact with them."

The unspoken implication was that they were afraid the Ning Family members would latch onto the Yan family like leeches and suck their blood.

Speaking of this brother, Yan Haotian, he had treated the original owner passably well before he knew she wasn't his biological sister. But the moment his real sister returned, his attitude shifted so drastically. Anyone else in her shoes would likely feel quite hurt.

Ning Yue picked up the file and flipped through it. After memorizing the address and contact number on it, she asked directly, "Do my biological parents know about this yet?"

A trace of unnaturalness appeared on Yan Qingqing's face before she explained, "They already know about the switch between you and me."

Ning Yue raised an eyebrow at her but didn't say a word.

She could understand not wanting to call one's adoptive parents 'Mom' and 'Dad', considering she herself had no desire to do so either. However, her reason for not calling them that was because the Yan family no longer treated her as one of their own, not to mention that the original owner had met a tragic end entirely because of the Yan family. But the Ning Family had never mistreated Yan Qingqing in the slightest; for her to act this way was rather chilling. It just went to show that Yan Qingqing was, deep down in her bones, somewhat cold and callous. When they were rich, they were parents; when they were poor, she avoided them like the plague.

Mother Yan said, "I was the one who told them we wanted to raise the two of you together. That Ning couple didn't object."

The truth, of course, was not as they claimed. Mother Yan had indeed told the Ning family members that the Yan family could raise both girls together, but the original owner's biological parents had still wanted to bring their child home to live with them. After all, she was their own flesh and blood.

But Mother Yan had relentlessly belittled Mr. Ning and Ning's mother, arguing that Ning Yue enjoyed the finest life in the Yan family—a life the Ning Family could never provide. If they demanded the original owner's return, wouldn't it just put her in a difficult position? She claimed that if they truly wanted what was best for the child, they shouldn't make such demands.

Mr. Ning and Ning's mother genuinely believed the Yan family had the original owner's best interests at heart, so they hadn't dared to mention taking their daughter back again. They figured that since they couldn't help their child, they shouldn't hold her back either.

In her past life, Yan Ningyue had chosen to stay with the Yan family. Missing both girls, Mr. Ning and Ning's mother would sneak over to the original owner's school just to see her. This was especially true when the Yan family married the original owner off to a man in his forties; they had even come to the Yan family villa looking for her. However, the couple had been turned away by the butler, who claimed the young miss didn't want to see them. In reality, the original owner had no idea they had even visited.

Later on, after the original owner was married and beaten to death by her abusive husband, the Ning couple exhausted their family savings to report the crime and file a lawsuit. In the end, they lost the case due to a lack of evidence. The old man even hired thugs to savagely beat the couple. Their bodies broken, their hearts burdened with grief, and sickeningly depressed over the loss of their daughter, the two elders passed away one after another within two years.
