Milo Irving glanced at the box and looked back at Summer Thorne. "A frozen cake from a coffee shop chain. Quite the sincere gesture, Miss Thorne."

Summer Thorne heard him, but she neither argued nor explained.

'After all, she hadn't brought this cake with any sincerity—'

'Since that was the case, what was the harm in pushing things a step further?'

"Could I ask you, Mr. Irving, how things with Leo Morgan are being handled?"

Milo Irving said lightly, "I would have thought that for someone who hates him as much as you do, Miss Thorne, you would have already received the news."
